At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Special Envoy John Kerry shared their joy at the success of President Joe Biden's visit to Vietnam, affirming that the visit has contributed to further enhancing understanding between the two countries, for the benefit of the two peoples, for peace, stability and development of the region and the world. The Prime Minister thanked and appreciated Special Envoy John Kerry's valuable support in arranging the successful visit and the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh discussed with Special Envoy John Kerry measures to quickly implement important agreements of the visit, especially in the field of climate change response; asked the US to continue supporting Vietnam's efforts to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 as well as implementing the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) agreement, especially supporting Vietnam in building a renewable energy industry.

Special Envoy John Kerry said that President Joe Biden was very impressed and appreciated the warm, friendly, and thoughtful reception from Vietnam during his recent visit. Special Envoy John Kerry affirmed that the United States consistently values ​​its relationship with Vietnam and supports Vietnam in promoting its leading role in global efforts to respond to climate change.

Taking note of the Prime Minister's proposals on directions for enhancing cooperation between the two countries in responding to climate change and energy transition, Special Envoy John Kerry said that the United States will continue to strengthen cooperation and support developing countries, including Vietnam, in responding to climate change, especially in developing clean energy, smart power transmission networks, and sustainable infrastructure.

Mr. John Kerry affirmed that, as a long-time friend of Vietnam, he wishes to continue to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam to implement commitments at COP26 as well as upcoming conferences of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
