Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh meets with leaders of countries on the occasion of attending the ASEAN Summit

At the meetings, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh conveyed to the senior leaders of the countries and the ASEAN Secretary General the regards of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and key leaders of Vietnam; thanked the countries for their cooperation, support and experience sharing in economic recovery and development.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his wish to promote cooperation on important pillars of ASEAN and Vietnam's relations with other countries, especially in politics - foreign affairs, economics - trade - investment, security - defense, education - training, science - technology, etc.; continue to cooperate closely to build a united and united ASEAN, strengthen intra-bloc cooperation, and promote the central role in handling security and strategic issues in the region.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh invited high-ranking leaders of countries to send ministerial-level representatives to attend the ASEAN Future Forum scheduled to be held in Hanoi on April 23.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese expressed his pleasure to meet Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh again and looked forward to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's official visit to Australia, including bringing the two countries' relationship to a new level.

Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone agreed to coordinate to promote the implementation of agreements between the two countries' high-ranking leaders, especially the important results of the high-level meeting between the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Politburo of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party; expressed gratitude and appreciation for Vietnam's active support for Laos in assuming the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2024.

Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah agreed to promote the exchange of high-level visits; cooperation in the Halal field; and wished to soon return to visit Vietnam.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo agreed to promote rice trade cooperation and agricultural cooperation, specifically aquaculture and lobster farming; and suggested that Vietnam encourage Vinfast Group to invest in the electric vehicle sector.

Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin agreed to soon hold a joint Cabinet meeting between the two countries and promote economic connectivity between the two economies.

Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos suggested that the two countries cooperate closely in rice seed production, as well as in the field of climate change response, including the El Nino phenomenon.

Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong agreed to promote the implementation of Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIPs), cooperation in the fields of digital transformation, green economy, digital economy; and building and managing population data.

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim congratulated Vietnam on its rapid development in many fields; wished to learn from Vietnam in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI); said that the two countries need to coordinate closely in attracting foreign investment; agreed to promote high-level visits, implement bilateral cooperation mechanisms and agreements; and soon sign a cooperation agreement in the Halal field.

At a meeting with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, a guest of the Australian Prime Minister, the New Zealand Prime Minister expressed his delight at preparing to welcome Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for an official visit; highly appreciated Vietnam's role in ASEAN; and affirmed that he will closely cooperate with Vietnam and ASEAN countries on common regional issues.

Timor Leste Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao expressed his wish to soon pay an official visit to Vietnam and highly appreciated Vietnam's support for Timor Leste to soon officially join ASEAN.

ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn highly appreciated Vietnamese officials working at the ASEAN Secretariat; committed to continue to pay attention and create conditions to increase the number of Vietnamese working at the Secretariat; affirmed that the Secretary-General and the ASEAN Secretariat will personally attend the ASEAN Future Forum held in Vietnam; and hoped that the Forum will be held annually and become the leading forum to discuss issues related to the future of ASEAN.
