Also attending the event were Member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Vice Chairman of the Central Emulation and Reward Council Nguyen Dinh Khang; Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Central Agencies Bloc Nguyen Van The; leaders of departments, ministries, branches, unions, and central agencies; representatives of organizations and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the program implementation.
More than 2 million initiatives, generating more than 33 trillion VND in profits

According to the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the program "1 million initiatives - efforts to overcome difficulties, creativity, determination to defeat the COVID-19 pandemic" was implemented from September 1, 2021 with the goal of reaching 1 million initiatives by September 1, 2023. However, with the spirit of "new policy, determination, high results", union members, workers, civil servants, and employees nationwide have responded positively and participated in the program.
As of October 3, 2022, the Program has reached the milestone of 1 million initiatives - completing the planned target nearly 11 months ahead of schedule. To date, the whole country has had more than 2 million initiatives submitted to the Program; many initiatives have high profit value, over 100 billion VND/year; the total profit value of the initiatives is estimated at more than 33 trillion VND.
At the Conference, delegates had the opportunity to look back on the implementation, development and dissemination of the Program; were introduced to many typical initiatives to overcome difficulties, be creative, and defeat the pandemic, with great spiritual significance and material value; and at the same time, honor the bravery and intelligence of Vietnamese workers through specific actions and people.

Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that more than 2 years ago, in the context of the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong made an appeal to compatriots, comrades, soldiers nationwide and our compatriots abroad on the work of preventing and fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, with great confidence: We will definitely defeat the COVID-19 pandemic.
In response to the General Secretary's call, the entire Party, people and army have joined hands, made the highest efforts in preventing and fighting the pandemic. The Prime Minister has launched a special emulation movement "The whole country unites, joins hands, and emulates to prevent, fight and defeat the COVID-19 pandemic". Each level, each sector, each organization and individual has actively responded to the emulation movement with specific, practical and effective actions; successfully implementing the vaccine strategy, promptly, in the right direction and effectively; contributing to controlling the COVID-19 pandemic, recovering and developing the socio-economy.

The program was evaluated as successful in all three aspects: launching, implementation; results and spillover effects.
The Prime Minister said that the initiatives have demonstrated the creativity and intelligence of Vietnamese workers in promptly adapting to living and working conditions in the context of the complicated pandemic and in the new normal period, contributing significantly to stabilizing and restoring production and business activities of enterprises and implementing the political tasks of agencies and units.
Through promoting initiatives and creativity; affirming the spirit of solidarity, responsibility, self-reliance, self-improvement, pioneering and creative role of the working class, the Vietnam Trade Union realizes the aspiration of building a strong, prosperous and happy country.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the Prime Minister acknowledged, commended and highly appreciated the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor for its initiative to organize the extremely meaningful 1 Million Initiatives Program; congratulated the outstanding collectives, authors and groups of authors who were honored, as well as other deserving collectives and individuals who have actively contributed to the successful implementation of the special emulation movement "The whole country unites, joins hands and competes to prevent, fight and defeat the COVID-19 pandemic".
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh shared that the whole country has gone through unforgettable days of preventing and fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, full of pain and loss, but also full of emotion and pride. Vietnam has adapted flexibly, effectively controlled the epidemic, recovered and developed the socio-economy; and has been highly appreciated by the international community.
However, in the coming time, we still have to face many difficulties and challenges; we need the joint efforts, contributions, participation and striving of the entire political system, people and businesses; first of all, to successfully implement the 2023 socio-economic development plan, the 2021-2025 socio-economic development program and the 10-year socio-economic development strategy 2021-2030.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the Party and State always pay attention to, acknowledge and affirm the role and importance of the Vietnam Trade Union, its members and workers nationwide. The development and growth of the working class and the Trade Union organization are important factors for the development of the country.
To further promote the role of the Trade Union, the creativity and growth of the working class in the new situation, the Prime Minister suggested that the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor focus on solutions to promote the role and responsibility of the Vietnam Trade Union organization to continue to fulfill the mission of the working class in the country's development process.
Trade unions at all levels concretize, resolutely deploy and effectively implement Resolution No. 02-NQ/TW dated June 12, 2021 of the Politburo on innovation of organization and operation of Vietnam Trade Union in the new situation; be proactive, innovative, creative and flexible in organizing trade union activities with the goal of serving union members and workers; improve the capacity, qualifications, qualities, mettle, enthusiasm, flexibility and creativity of trade union officials to meet task requirements.
“Trade unions must constantly care, listen, understand, and grasp the thoughts and aspirations of workers; must live in the lives of workers; must speak the sincere voice of workers; must act decisively and effectively on issues that workers need; promptly resolve difficulties and problems with practical and effective actions to further improve the lives of workers; the viewpoint of investing in workers is investing in rapid and sustainable socio-economic development, leaving no one behind,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
The Head of the Government proposed to continue to innovate the method of organizing emulation in conjunction with the campaign "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style"; effectively implement emulation movements to overcome difficulties and develop launched by the Prime Minister in the spirit of "The more difficult it is, the more we must compete", focusing on promoting the emulation movement "Promoting the development of synchronous and modern infrastructure and practicing thrift and fighting waste" to raise awareness, responsibility and create a vibrant emulation atmosphere, mobilizing and encouraging union members, workers, civil servants and laborers to promote the spirit of self-reliance, self-reliance, dedication, creative work, demonstrating the role and responsibility of the Vietnam Trade Union organization, of union leaders at all levels to accompany the Government, heads of agencies, units and enterprises to effectively implement solutions to promote the country's socio-economic development.
Along with that, effectively promote emulation movements organized by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, especially the "Good Labor, Creative Labor" Movement, considering this as a driving force to inspire the intellectual strength, creativity and efficiency of Vietnamese workers.
The Prime Minister hopes that the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor will proactively coordinate with socio-political organizations to develop common action programs to create comprehensive and comprehensive strength among all classes of people; promote activities accompanying the Government to improve competitiveness and sustainable development of the country through mobilizing union members and workers to improve their professional qualifications, professional skills, sense of responsibility, dynamism, creativity, productivity, quality and efficiency of work; innovate working style, awareness of law compliance and labor discipline, making practical contributions to the development of each enterprise and the growth of agencies, units, and the sustainable development of the country.
Relevant ministries, branches, authorities at all levels, heads of agencies, units and enterprises should strengthen coordination with trade union organizations, support and create favorable conditions to promote trade union activities, especially activities to promote initiatives and creativity among trade union members, workers, civil servants and laborers, and join hands and unite to create a new breakthrough in labor productivity to help Vietnam rise up, develop quickly and sustainably.
For the collectives and individuals honored at the Conference, the Prime Minister suggested that they continue to strive, worry, make efforts, constantly improve, be creative, contribute more, achieve higher achievements, be worthy of being the core, a shining example, spreading for everyone to follow as President Ho Chi Minh taught: "A living example is worth more than a hundred propaganda speeches".
The Prime Minister suggested continuing to inherit and strongly promote the traditions and outstanding qualities of the Vietnamese people: diligence, intelligence, courage, creativity, daring to think, daring to do, daring to innovate; contributing to building and protecting the Socialist Fatherland; realizing the aspiration to develop a prosperous country, and a prosperous and happy people.
