On the afternoon of January 14, at the Presidential Palace, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired the official welcoming ceremony for Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin, who is on an official visit to Vietnam from January 14 to 15.
This is the first visit of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin to Vietnam. Prime Minister Mishustin is the first high-ranking foreign guest to officially visit Vietnam in 2025.
When the motorcade carrying Prime Minister Mishustin and the Russian delegation entered the Presidential Palace, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh went to the car door to welcome the Russian Prime Minister. In a warm and sincere atmosphere, Prime Minister Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin received a bouquet of flowers from the capital's students.

The two leaders walked down the red carpet to the cheers of children waving their national flags.
As the two leaders stepped onto the podium, the national anthems of the two countries were played. In a solemn atmosphere, the Prime Minister of Vietnam and the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation stepped forward to salute the national flags of the two countries.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh invited Prime Minister Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin to inspect the Guard of Honour of the Vietnam People's Army. The two Prime Ministers introduced members of the high-ranking delegations of the two countries and witnessed the welcoming parade of the Guard of Honour of the Vietnam People's Army.

Immediately after the welcoming ceremony, the two Prime Ministers moved to the Government Office to visit the photo exhibition about the country, people, and good relations between Vietnam and the Russian Federation, organized by the Government Office in coordination with the Vietnam News Agency.

Afterwards, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Prime Minister Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin led high-ranking delegations of the two countries to hold talks.
The visit took place in the context of the recent continuous strengthening of relations between the two countries, aiming to further deepen the Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, towards the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (January 30, 1950 - January 30, 2025).

With the foundation of good feelings between the leaders and people of the two countries, Vietnam-Russia political relations have a high level of trust, with frequent exchanges of high-level delegations and contacts at all levels. The two countries maintain the mechanism of the Intergovernmental Committee meeting annually. The two sides closely coordinate at multilateral forums and international organizations.
Cooperating in many diverse fields, the Vietnam-Russian Federation relationship is increasingly deepening and becoming more substantial.
Economic and trade cooperation between the two countries has developed dynamically in recent times. In 2023, bilateral trade turnover will reach 3.63 billion USD; in 2024, it will reach 4.57 billion USD.
As of November 2024, Russia has 199 investment projects in Vietnam with a total registered capital of about 990 million USD. Vietnam has 16 valid investment projects in Russia with a total registered capital of 1.6 billion USD.
Cooperation between the two countries in fields such as science and technology, culture, education, tourism, localities... is increasingly expanding.
Since 2019, Russia has increased the number of scholarships for Vietnam to about 1,000 per year. Currently, there are more than 5,000 Vietnamese students studying in the Russian Federation. The two sides organize annual and alternating Cultural Days in Vietnam and Russia.

Currently, there have been about 20 pairs of relations between localities of the two countries established, especially between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Moscow, Saint Petersburg... The Vietnamese community in Russia currently has about 60,000 people, always attached to and considers Russia as their second homeland.
With the foundation of the good relationship between the two countries over many years, the official visit to Vietnam by Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin will continue to bring the two countries' cooperation closer and more effectively, towards a better future.

The two sides will review, discuss and find solutions to limitations in bilateral cooperation, exchange information on the progress of implementing important cooperation projects, especially in the fields of energy, industry, etc., propose measures to expand cooperation in potential areas, creating momentum to promote bilateral relations; it is expected that 2025 will be the beginning of a new development stage of the Vietnam - Russian Federation Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
