(Dan Tri) - Using the method of "learning through experience" and "nurturing emotional intelligence", Vu Minh Hieu became the valedictorian of the University of Education - Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

Vu Minh Hieu is the valedictorian of the Department of Educational Quality Management, Faculty of Quality Management, University of Education - Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU), with an average score of 3.80/4.0.

Hieu is one of 96 outstanding faces receiving the title of excellent valedictorian of the Program to honor excellent valedictorians graduating from universities and academies in Hanoi in 2023.
After graduating, Minh Hieu is working as a specialist at the Center for Education Quality Assessment - VNU.

Upon hearing the news that his son became the valedictorian, Mr. Vu Manh Tien (Hieu's father) shared: "I feel happy and joyful when Hieu has this honor. It is the result of his continuous efforts and self-reliance over a long period of time. Besides, I would like to thank the teachers and friends who have helped and encouraged him throughout the past time.
Hopefully, with the title of excellent valedictorian in 2023, you will have new progress and can contribute to the development of the country's education."
Self-proclaimed "active bookworm", always puts studying first
Since 6th grade, Hieu has had a passion for Japanese culture. After entering middle school, Minh Hieu's family registered him to study Japanese with the hope that their son would be able to explore a new language.
After studying Japanese for 4 years, Hieu received the JLPT N3 Japanese certificate. Therefore, after graduating, Hieu hopes to become a Japanese teacher.

However, due to his talent and fate, Hieu had to give up his dream because he was 0.025 points short. After that, the male student decided to study Education Quality Management. Hieu said that because he was a former student of the Foreign Language High School, he was admitted directly to the University of Education.
"Before, I didn't have much of an impression of the education quality management industry because it wasn't my dream. However, when I met Dr. Tang Thi Thuy, my thinking changed. She was the one who inspired me to try to pursue my studies at university," Hieu confided.
Minh Hieu always prioritizes studying above all else, even though he participates in founding the Debate Club and participating in school association activities.
"I'm someone who always puts studying first. People think I'm a bookworm, always studying. But no, I always try to turn myself into an "active bookworm".
I acquire knowledge by using the "learning through experience" method instead of just learning from books. Therefore, I feel that I am not exactly a bookworm, but can confidently say that I am an "active bookworm", Minh Hieu shared.

When he was a freshman, Minh Hieu had a part-time job but did not focus on financial matters. Instead, Hieu proactively looked for jobs that could both earn extra income and were directly related to his major.
The male student works as a Japanese tutor, English teaching assistant, and office specialist at a high school to gain experience.
The "Emotional Intelligence Cultivation" Method
To achieve such admirable results, Minh Hieu always tries to study on his own. Before going to class, the male student often proactively previews the lecture, notes down the main ideas of the upcoming lesson, and speaks to himself in front of the mirror before presenting in the lecture hall. When he has questions about the exercises, Hieu will not hesitate to ask the teacher.

Besides, Hieu always values self-awareness. According to Hieu, if one is not responsible for oneself, one will become lazy and it will be difficult to achieve success. Therefore, the young man is always strict with himself.
According to Hieu, "nurturing emotional intelligence" is one of the methods that helps him achieve good results.
The male student believes that: "When studying too much, the human body often experiences fatigue, stress and moods will easily become confused. Therefore, I always try to control my emotions so that my mood is always in a balanced state."
Hieu said he often nurtures his emotions by listening to music, hanging out with friends, and watching entertainment programs. "Everyone needs to know how to balance between studying and nurturing emotions, then studying can be effective," Hieu said.
Minh Hieu said that if he had the opportunity, he would study abroad for a master's degree in Quality Management or Education Management.
"I want to study abroad and bring the quintessence and intelligence of developed countries back to contribute to Vietnam's education," Hieu confided.

Minh Hieu confided: "On the road to success, every path has many thorns and challenges. However, I hope that young people will think of those difficulties as opportunities for themselves to go further.
For me, the privilege of young people is being allowed to make mistakes, so be bold, dare to act and consider mistakes as lessons to help each person become the best version of themselves."
