The three players who will have to say goodbye to their teammates are defender Le Van Ha (Da Nang FC), midfielder Tran Ngoc Son (Nam Dinh FC) and striker Vu Minh Hieu (Cheon An). The trio will return home tomorrow and continue to wait for opportunities during the Vietnam Olympic team's gathering to prepare for the 19th ASIAD.

The name that caused a lot of regret is Vu Minh Hieu. This player grew up from the HAGL training center and left a certain impression in the recent training session. Minh Hieu is 1m80 tall and has an outstanding physical foundation. He is playing for Cheon An in the K-League 2 of Korea.

Regarding the executive committee, U23 Vietnam has one captain and four vice-captains at the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 tournament. Goalkeeper Quan Van Chuan holds the captain's armband. The vice-captains are Nguyen Quoc Viet, Khuat Van Khang, Luong Duy Cuong and Dinh Xuan Tien.

Quan Van Chuan was the captain of the U23 Vietnam team at the 32nd SEA Games. The goalkeeper born in 2001 is also the oldest member of the U23 Vietnam team participating in the U23 Southeast Asian tournament.

In this afternoon's training session, Coach Hoang Anh Tuan mainly deployed light exercises, interspersed with games to create excitement for the players. Reducing the volume and intensity of exercise before the opening match is understandable. In yesterday's important tactical training session, the players had to work at full capacity to meet the requirements of the coaching staff.

The match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Laos in Group C will take place at 4:00 p.m. on August 20 at Rayong Provincial Stadium. This is the first match of U23 Vietnam in the tournament and the second match of U23 Laos. In the opening match on August 18, U23 Laos drew 2-2 with U23 Philippines. Therefore, a victory against the young team from the land of a million elephants will help coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his team put one foot in the semi-finals.
