After the training session on the afternoon of August 19, Coach Hoang Anh Tuan finalized the list of 23 players participating in the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 tournament of U23 Vietnam.
Three players (in yellow shirts) were removed from the list of participants in the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 tournament.
Accordingly, the 3 players whose names were crossed out are defender Le Van Ha, midfielder Tran Ngoc Son and striker Vu Minh Hieu.
Le Van Ha is a player who has just been called up for additional training from Da Nang Club.
Minh Hieu is currently playing for Cheonan Club in the Korean second division (K-League 2).
Although highly rated, the 21-year-old striker has not integrated well into the U23 Vietnam team.
Besides, the red team's attack line is currently quite crowded, so it is understandable that a player cannot compete for a position and is eliminated.
It is expected that all three players will leave Thailand to fly back to Vietnam on the morning of August 20.
Although they cannot defend the title with U23 Vietnam at U23 Southeast Asia, these players will return and wait for the opportunity to gather in preparation for the 19th Asiad.
In the afternoon practice session on August 19, the coaching staff mainly let the players do light exercises and interspersed them with "mini games" to create excitement for the whole team.
On the same morning, U23 Vietnam visited Rayong Provincial Stadium - the venue for the matches of coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his team in Group C as well as the semi-finals and finals of the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 tournament.
According to the schedule, at 4:00 p.m. on August 20, U23 Vietnam will begin its journey to defend the Southeast Asian U23 championship title with a match against U23 Laos.
