Vietnam News Agency launches information page "Characters"

At the ceremony, VNA launched the "Characters - Events" document page. With the criteria: "Reliable - systematic - diverse - updated - friendly", the "Characters - Events" information page will develop in the direction of data journalism, meeting the needs of many readers to learn in-depth press documents, while promoting the strengths, resources and abundant information resources of VNA.

The website provides systematic information and documents, helping users have a comprehensive view of major events and famous figures in various fields at home and abroad. By accessing the address: https://nvsk.vnanet.vn/, users of computers, tablets, and smartphones can access documents about more than 1,000 figures, more than 1,000 profiles, with about 10,000 information documents, including many documents that VNA introduces to the public for the first time.

On this occasion, the multilingual automatic reading application developed by VNA using artificial intelligence technology was launched. Currently, VNA is widely deploying the automatic reading feature in Vietnamese and English. In the coming time, other languages such as French, Russian, Chinese, Spanish... will also be completed and soon widely integrated into all electronic information channels of VNA.

In order to bring more convenience to customers, VNA is innovating the information production process to integrate videos into the text and photo information product package on the source information portal at: http://vnanet.vn.

The opening of the "Characters - Events" special page, the synchronous deployment of multilingual automatic reading applications on domestic and foreign information products; and the addition of video elements to text and photo news are steps taken by VNA in realizing the Party's guidelines and the State's policies on digital transformation, especially the Press Digital Transformation Strategy approved by the Government, to better fulfill its mission as the key multimedia press agency in the national media system.

Speaking at the ceremony, VNA General Director Vu Viet Trang stated: Exactly 78 years ago on September 15, Vietnam News Agency (now VNA) broadcast to the world in three languages: Vietnamese, English and French, the full text of the Declaration of Independence and the list of members of the provisional government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. That historic moment has become the Traditional Day of VNA, the national news agency of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Over the past 78 years, generations of VNA journalists have joined forces, united in their determination, overcome all difficulties and challenges, maintained the unceasing flow of official information, and served the revolution and the people. During the two struggles for national liberation, nearly 260 reporters, technicians and staff of VNA heroically sacrificed their lives, fueling the traditional flame of the heroic news agency.

Faced with the tasks entrusted to VNA by the Party, the State and the people, each news reporter must be aware of the need to maintain the fundamental values of the national news agency, constantly innovate, be creative and be proactive to perform well in the new situation. Practice has proven that through training in practice, with increasingly high task requirements, journalists quickly mature in political capacity and journalistic expertise.
