Two Vietnam National News Agencies

(CLO) On November 20, at the headquarters of Pathet Lao News Agency in the capital Vientiane, the VNA delegation led by General Director Vu Viet Trang and the KPL delegation led by General Director Vannasin Simmavong held talks.

At the talks, leaders of the two news agencies of the two countries reviewed the implementation of cooperation contents in the 2023-2024 period, on the basis of the Professional Cooperation Agreement for the 2022-2025 period signed on March 29, 2022; discussed measures to improve the effectiveness of cooperation programs in line with the development of KPL and VNA in the new situation; and recognized that cooperation activities between the two agencies in many fields have always been implemented in accordance with commitments and in practical and effective forms.

Comrade Vu Viet Trang thanked KPL for creating favorable conditions for VNA in many fields, affirming that promoting close cooperation with KPL is one of the top priorities in VNA's foreign relations; at the same time, thanked KPL colleagues for effectively using information sources provided by VNA; supporting VNA in publishing Vietnam Pictorial in Laos, helping to widely disseminate this foreign publication to Lao provinces and cities and directly to the Lao public.

VNA General Director Vu Viet Trang congratulated KPL on successfully carrying out its information and propaganda tasks on Laos' ASEAN Chairmanship Year 2024, contributing to enhancing the image and role of Laos in the region; and thanked KPL for supporting and helping VNA Resident Representative Office reporters in Vientiane to successfully carry out their information tasks on this important event as well as in professional activities in the area.

On the Lao side, KPL General Director Vannasin Simmavong highly appreciated the cooperation between the two news agencies in the spirit of the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam, as well as between the two news agencies which are increasingly developing well; sincerely thanked VNA for always supporting and helping KPL in the spirit of comradeship and close colleagues, making important contributions to the cause of protecting and developing the country.

Comrade Vannasin Simmavong thanked and appreciated the activities of the VNA correspondents in Vientiane in carrying out their political tasks and serving as a bridge to promote the good relations between Laos and Vietnam in general and between the two news agencies in particular; at the same time, they always maintain close relations and regularly help and support KPL colleagues.

Regarding the direction and plan to strengthen professional cooperation in the 2024-2025 period, regarding information work, the two sides agreed to increase information exchange (text/photo) to expand the scope of information promotion in all fields of politics, diplomacy, economy, culture, society... of each country, contributing to promoting the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos...

At the end of the talks, VNA General Director Vu Viet Trang donated some technical equipment and computers to KPL to serve the production of news and articles as well as improve the quality of images; at the same time, VNA General Director Vu Viet Trang and KPL General Director Vannasin Simmavong signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in the coming time.
