On the morning of December 19, in Hanoi , the Ministry of National Defense held the opening ceremony of the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024.
The opening ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh; General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense; General Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security, along with many leaders of central ministries, departments and agencies and international guests.
Vietnam understands and appreciates the value of friendship for peace.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 has special significance, being an outstanding international event with a message of peace, cooperation, and mutual development, contributing to promoting foreign affairs and defense cooperation in all fields; for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Vietnam is a peace-loving country, valuing righteousness, love and justice in international cooperation. Vietnam consistently implements a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralisation and diversification of relations, being a good friend and a reliable partner with all countries and an active and responsible member of the international community. Vietnam proactively promotes foreign affairs and defence cooperation, aiming to strengthen friendship and mutual understanding, demonstrate sincerity and build trust, jointly resolve common security and safety challenges, prevent conflicts and prevent wars, in accordance with the basic principles of international law , contributing to peace, cooperation and common development in the region and the world. Having experienced much pain, sacrifice and loss due to war, Vietnam understands and cherishes the value of friendship, for peace, cooperation and development. "Vietnam is steadfast in its "four no's" defense policy: not participating in military alliances, not allying with one country to fight another, not allowing foreign countries to set up military bases or use its territory to fight against other countries, not using force or threatening to use force in international relations," Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed. The head of the Government informed that Vietnam advocates building a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and modern army; building a strong enough defense potential to enhance the country's self-defense and protection capabilities early, from afar, from the starting point. There are 66 international delegations and more than 240 defense industry enterprises from 49 countries participating in the exhibition. Opportunity for Vietnam's defense industry to reach out to the world market
In the welcome letter sent to the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024, General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, said that inheriting and promoting the spirit of patriotism, the quintessence of the unique military art of the Vietnamese people and the support of international friends; after 80 years of building, fighting and growing, the Vietnam People's Army has continuously grown and developed, always completing all assigned missions. "In the new situation, we continue to promote our core role in building a national defense, taking the lead in responding to non-traditional security challenges; especially in rescue, disaster prevention, and disease response, not only domestically but also in fulfilling noble international responsibilities and obligations," General Phan Van Giang affirmed. US impressed by Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 Admiral Samuel Paparo, Commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command, expressed his impression that the exhibition was very professionally organized. "Today, we are here bringing equipment, weapons, and personnel to represent the US participation in the event," said Mr. Paparo. Rosoboronexport General Director Alexander Mikheev said that Rosoboronexport always provides Vietnam with the most advanced, reliable and effective defense products to equip the army and security forces. Rosoboronexport introduced the Typhoon-K multi-purpose armored vehicle integrated with the Kornet-EM anti-tank missile system, the BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicle with additional protection and the Rubezh-ME coastal missile complex. The exhibition is an opportunity to promote defense cooperation between the parties. Sharing more about this, Mr. Fukawa Hideki, advisor to the Defense Equipment, Technology and Logistics Cooperation Agency under the Ministry of Defense of Japan (ATLA), said that this is the second time this agency and Japanese companies have attended the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition. "ATLA and Japanese companies participated in the 2022 Defense Exhibition for the first time. Then, in 2023, Japan successfully transferred pre-corrosion treatment technology to the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense," Mr. Hideki shared.
