Reader Dan shared that in his company, some customers are difficult but prefer to contact via social networks, not phone calls. When customers say something wrong, they will immediately retract the message.
Whether to call or text depends on age, field, and nature of work - Photo: YEN TRINH
After the article "I'd rather text via social networks and wait... a few days than call?", Tuoi Tre Online received many responses from readers about whether to call or text on Facebook or Zalo the first time you contact.
Be tactful when contacting
According to many readers, whether to call or text depends on age, field, and nature of the work to be contacted.
Some readers think that for important matters or first contact, it is better to call first.
Account bebo****@gmail.com analyzed: "If you don't answer the call, you text back the work content that needs to be discussed. Those who wait on Facebook, Messenger... will lose the opportunity, easily making the partner feel uncomfortable, not wanting to cooperate. Don't say that in the digital age, everything must be done online."
Similarly, Mr. Quy Hung confided that he does not like people to message on Facebook when they first contact him for work. Or if they do, they should go straight to the point.
He is not always online so it takes a lot of time to text back and forth, not continuously.
Mr. Tuan thinks that for serious relationships, calling is more appropriate.
Looking at it more simply, Ms. Lan wrote: "Generation gap. Texting via Facebook, Zalo... is too normal, even for many people who are not young."
The account vant****@gmail.com also chooses to text message. "If I call, I might be on the street or have something personal to talk about and it's not convenient to answer."
Reader phone number 0939… explained that due to the nature of work, if I call, "words fly away". "I text everything so I have evidence later. If I call and talk verbally, I'll argue a lot later".
In particular, according to reader Dan's observation, nowadays, whether it is due to technology and digital technology or not, people are invisible, causing words to lose value and prestige.
He shared that in his unit, there are some demanding customers who prefer to communicate via OTT applications.
However, when the customer says something wrong, they will casually press the recall button. Or the customer will insist that they said this and not that.
He complained: "We have no way to respond to the customer's strange arguments. It's not impossible, but it's very difficult and time-consuming. Because we can't take a screenshot every 10 lines of chat.
If we search for the keywords of the chat customers, it will probably take a few days or more, because customers chat on all kinds of apps.
One more thing, when young people send large work files, they also conveniently send them via chat apps. Usually, you have to find a way to download it yourself, or forward it to the device where you work on that file.
According to reader Dan, people should think about the problem that nowadays people only seem to care about their own convenience. They no longer or rarely care about how the other person receives their words or the method of communication.
Don't like strangers calling because of spam calls
Many times, thinking that the strange number calling is an advertising number, many people do not pick up the phone.
Mr. Truong shared that when working with strangers and superiors, he does not like anyone calling on Zalo or Facebook messenger. "Because this is free, the call quality is also jerky, and it feels stingy," he said.
Account tran****@gmail.com bluntly said: "If you call, I block you immediately. Not everyone is free to answer the phone."
Regarding the reason for being afraid to answer phone calls from unknown numbers, Mr. Huy Tran said: "The problem lies in the fact that the current digital age has brought with it many consequences, most notably fraud, harassment, advertising... through too many phone calls. So no one wants to receive calls from unknown numbers anymore."
With a lot of experience, reader thie****@gmail.com said he is very careful when receiving calls from strange numbers.
"Later, when mobile phones were developed, strangers who wanted to make transactions could text first online and introduce themselves. Then they could call and talk. Those who already knew my phone number would not let others know."
Similarly, Mr. Duy complained that out of 10 calls he received, 8 were from unknown numbers offering marketing calls.
Account khiemdo agrees that strange numbers now are all advertisements and brokers in many forms. But when contacting via Zalo, they are already friends, acquaintances.
Reader duct****@gmail.com commented that in this day and age, it's better to send a text message so you have time to review and verify that the sender is real before contacting them again. "If a strange number calls, I block them immediately. If they want me to answer the phone, they need to send an email or text message to make an appointment first."
Through this issue, reader tranle talks about the situation where network operators have not effectively managed junk SIM cards and now the network operators themselves are also at a disadvantage, because of a lot of junk calls. People form the habit of not answering strange phone calls.
"Usually I will check Zalo to see if that number is registered before calling back. Out of 10 missed calls, 9 of them are unanswered," said this reader.
Agreeing, reader Cuonghugo shared that this is a consequence of widespread advertising calls, causing calls outside the contact list to be considered spam. "I will not pick up almost 95% of calls if the phone number is not in the contact list."
Some readers believe that calls from unknown numbers can interrupt the recipient's work and sometimes even annoy them.
According to abcs account, the call will put both sides in a position of having to respond immediately, without time to consider, which is often not beneficial for work.
