Following Uncle Ho's example

After 10 years as the President of Nam Giang Charity Association, Mr. Tran Tan Tai (born in 1967) seems to be very familiar with the local people, especially those with difficult lives.

Starting with the program "Pot of love porridge", maintained regularly every week to help share the difficulties of inpatients at the District Medical Center.

Mr. Tai shared that after many years of living and working in the mountainous area of Nam Giang, he witnessed many difficult lives of the people, especially ethnic minority households in the border area.

Therefore, through the Nam Giang Charity Association, Mr. Tai and his colleagues connected and called for the cooperation of philanthropists, helping thousands of people, creating opportunities to provide livelihoods and housing for them to overcome adversity.

From this connecting resource, after 10 years of operation, Nam Giang Charity Association mobilized more than 5.4 billion VND to implement many projects for the community.

“In addition to volunteer activities to support disadvantaged patients, we regularly donate to organize education promotion programs, and help those affected by natural disasters and life problems.

Most recently, responding to the call of Provincial Party Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, the Charity Association connected and mobilized philanthropists to support the removal of 3 temporary houses (100 million VND each) and to carry out many sanitation works, clean water, and filtered water for schools, medical stations... That is how we follow Uncle Ho's example, helping the disadvantaged community" - Mr. Tai said.

Mr. Tai and the Nam Giang Charity Association are like a small slice of many projects and models following Uncle Ho's example to help the community that have been honored in recent times.

By doing useful work, they act as a bridge to help develop the village, provide livelihoods for the community to develop, and become shining examples to be praised and replicated...

Action for the community

Concerned about the large areas of land that people are at risk of being abandoned after natural disasters, in 2021, the Mass Mobilization Bloc of the Party Committee of Tra Ka commune (Bac Tra My) came up with the idea of mobilizing households to reclaim and regenerate hill land to grow black turmeric.

After a period of implementation, the model not only helped many households reclaim agricultural land, gradually raised labor awareness, and created new livelihoods for the local community.

Mr. Tran Pham Xuan Hoang - Deputy Secretary of Tra Ka Commune Party Committee said that after the efforts of the government, more than 1 hectare of land of 12 households that had been filled up was remediated and reclaimed to grow black turmeric, opening up the opportunity to turn black turmeric into a local OCOP product, sold at the Co.opMart system.

“In addition, we also mobilize people to donate land to create a site for civil works, convert new crops from acacia to xoan dao, as well as maintain and develop jackfruit trees, and mobilize resources to build houses for poor households to stabilize their lives,” Mr. Hoang shared.

At the conference to commend and reward the patriotic emulation movement in 2024 held last weekend, 78 collectives and 24 individuals with outstanding achievements and typical examples in the patriotic emulation movements received the Labor Medal from the President, the Emulation Flag from the Government and the Certificate of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee.
