Hanoi National University of Education 2 organizes independent entrance exams for the subjects of Literature, Mathematics, English, History, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Geography. Except for Literature, which is a combination of multiple-choice and essay test, the other subjects are all multiple-choice.

The exam was designed by Hanoi Pedagogical University 2 to assess competency, with questions linked to meaningful contexts. The content closely follows the new year's general education program, mainly for grade 12.
The test question types are: multiple choice; true-false; matching item with correct answer; short answer.

This year, the school will enroll students according to 6 admission methods, 1 more method than in 2024.
This is the first year the school organizes its own entrance exam and uses the results of its own exam for university admission. The remaining five methods include: considering the results of the high school graduation exam, considering the results of the academic transcript; direct admission and priority for direct admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training; admission based on the results of the competency assessment exam of Hanoi National University and Ho Chi Minh City National University, admission using the results of the competency assessment exam of Hanoi National University of Education and the specialized assessment exam of Ho Chi Minh City National University of Education.
Currently, more than 10 units and universities nationwide organize their own entrance exams, in which the capacity assessment exams of Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh City National University and the thinking assessment exam of Hanoi University of Science and Technology attract many candidates and many universities use the exam results for admission.
