At an international security forum, information that Vietnam's CMC Corporation became a victim of ransomware appeared, causing much discussion. The attack was said to have been carried out by the Crypto24 group on April 12.

Regarding the above incident, a representative of CMC Group confirmed the incident and said: "CMC recorded a small-scale service in the technical system showing signs of being intentionally attacked by ransomware. Thanks to the timely activation of the incident response process according to regulations, the service disruption to customers only occurred for a very short time and was restored immediately afterwards."

At present, the attacked service is operating stably, without affecting customers. CMC Group is working closely with the authorities to investigate and clarify the incident. After having an official conclusion and receiving approval from the competent authority.

Ransomware is spyware or extortion software, designed to encrypt data and demand a ransom to decrypt it. While other attacks only disrupt or stop the operations of organizations and businesses, ransomware operates in the form of demanding a ransom to decrypt data.
