The Vietnam Road Administration has just issued Document No. 112/TTr – CDBVN requesting the Ministry of Transport to consider and submit to the Prime Minister for approval the adjustment of the Road Network Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.
One of the notable information in Document No. 112 is that the Vietnam Road Administration proposed to add two more expressway routes to the planning.
Specifically, the specialized road management agency requested to add a new planning for the Ca Mau - Dat Mui expressway, about 90km long, 4-lane scale, investment process after 2030.
After being added, it is recommended that the Ca Mau - Dat Mui Expressway not be included in the Eastern North - South Expressway system so as not to affect the goal of the 2021 - 2030 Socio-Economic Development Strategy: by 2025, complete the Eastern North - South Expressway; at the same time, the route is determined to have an investment schedule after 2030 to match the forecast results of transportation demand, ensuring feasibility during implementation.
Vietnam Road Administration also proposed to add a new planning for the Quang Ngai - Kon Tum expressway, about 136km long, 4-lane scale, investment process before 2030.
According to Resolution No. 23/NQ-TW of the Politburo, it is determined that for the Northern Central Highlands sub-region (Gia Lai and Kon Tum provinces), eco-tourism areas and tourist areas associated with national parks and nature reserves will be formed. To implement this orientation, it is necessary to add an expressway connecting from the North-South expressway in the East to tourist areas in the Kon Tum area.
Therefore, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province has a document proposing to add the Quang Ngai - Kon Tum expressway to develop the potential of tourism land in the border area of the two provinces, connecting Quang Ngai province with the Central Highlands provinces. The Quang Ngai - Kon Tum expressway also connects with Laos at the Bo Y border gate.
Currently, localities (Kon Tum, Quang Ngai) have proactively researched and added the Quang Ngai - Kon Tum expressway to the provincial planning.
In Document No. 112, the Vietnam Road Administration proposed that competent authorities adjust the scale of four expressway sections included in the Road Network Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.
Specifically, there are 3 sections of the North-South Eastern Expressway (CT.01) proposed to adjust the scale of the Phap Van - Phu Thu section from 8 lanes to 10 - 12 lanes; the Ben Luc - Trung Luong section from 6 lanes to 10 - 12 lanes; the Can Tho - Ca Mau section from 4 lanes to 6 lanes.
In addition, the Noi Bai – Bac Ninh – Ha Long Expressway (CT.09) is proposed to be adjusted in scale from 4 lanes to 6 lanes.
There are 4 expressways in the Road Network Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, proposed to adjust the scope, including: Ninh Binh - Hai Phong expressway (CT.08) adjusting the starting point from Ninh Binh city to Yen Mo district (south of Ninh Binh city), the length of the expressway after adjustment is about 117km; Cam Lo - Lao Bao expressway (CT.19) adjusting the starting point from Dong Ha city to Trieu Phong district, the length of the expressway after adjustment is about 56km; Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway (CT.20) adjusting the starting point from Nhon Hoi port, Binh Dinh province to An Nhon town, Binh Dinh province, the length of the expressway after adjustment is about 123km; Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai expressway (CT.31) adjusting the end point from Moc Bai border gate to Ben Cau district, Tay Ninh province.
If the above adjustments and supplements are approved, the expressway network will include 43 routes with a total length of about 9,177 km.
It is known that the Prime Minister has approved the road network planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 (road network planning) in Decision No. 1454/QD-TTg dated September 1, 2021. Accordingly, the expressway network is planned with 41 routes, with a total length of about 9,014 km.
