This afternoon, February 19, the Department of Transport of Quang Tri province announced that it will continue to receive applications for issuing and exchanging driver's licenses both directly and online from February 20.
Head of the Department of Vehicle and Driver Management of the Quang Tri Department of Transport, Tran Trung Thong, informed: “Early in the afternoon of February 19, the provincial Department of Transport received a document from the Vietnam Road Administration. Accordingly, the specific date for the handover of the task of testing and granting driving licenses from the Ministry of Transport to the Ministry of Public Security according to the previous document has not yet been determined.
Therefore, the Director of the Provincial Department of Transport directed the department to continue to focus human resources to process all received documents; at the same time, continue to receive documents again from the morning of February 20 until there are regulations on the time of task transfer from the competent authority.
On the same afternoon, Mr. Tran Trung Thong signed a notice to continue receiving applications for issuing and reissuing driving licenses. This is to ensure that the task of issuing and reissuing driving licenses is carried out continuously, without interruption, affecting people's lives; at the same time, preparing to hand over the task of testing and issuing driving licenses from the Department of Transport to the police department.
Mr. Thong added that to avoid backlog of documents, affecting people's rights, from February 20 until there is an official document from the central government on transferring the task of testing and issuing driving licenses, the Quang Tri Department of Transport will limit and only accept the issuance and renewal of driving licenses for cars that have expired between February 20 and March 10.

Previously, on February 17, the Quang Tri Department of Transport announced a temporary suspension of receiving applications for issuance and re-issuance of driving licenses from February 18 to complete the issuance of driving licenses for cases that had submitted applications to the Department of Transport before February 19, following the direction of the Vietnam Road Administration.
