The faces of those in their 18s and 20s were dark and sweaty, but their movements and operations were still very agile and precise. It seemed that the goals and targets of the emulation movement to celebrate the 133rd anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday and the 55th anniversary of the 968th Division's traditional day (June 28, 1968 / June 28, 2023) became the motivation for cadres and soldiers to compete and make achievements.
At the 25th high point, the training content of “The company attacks and captures the target in the fortifications” of Company 6, Battalion 5 is entering a fierce situation. After the command “Charge” by Captain Ho Nhu Song, Battalion Commander of Battalion 5, the mobile footsteps and the shout of charge resounded throughout the hill. Despite the sweat soaking their backs, the officers and soldiers seemed absorbed in the situations given.
At the end of the training session, the soldiers quickly moved back to their original positions, listened to the Battalion Commander's comments, learned from experience, pointed out weaknesses, and then continued the next training session. During the break, the officers and soldiers listened to Major Le Hong Duong, Deputy Political Commissar of the Regiment, tell about the Regiment's exploits on the battlefields over the past 55 years. The stories and heroic examples of generations of officers and soldiers of the Regiment were summarized by Major Le Hong Duong in a concise and engaging way. It seemed that through the story of Major Le Hong Duong, the officers and soldiers were given more motivation and determination, so the atmosphere of the next training session was even more exciting.
Through discussions with officers and soldiers of Battalion 5, I learned that the unit had just successfully completed a platoon-level tactical exercise with 100% live ammunition firing, with good technical skills and good tactics. During the exercise, many individuals overcame difficulties to successfully complete the task, such as Private First Class Ho Van Xuan, soldier of B41, Platoon 1, Company 5, who volunteered to carry out the first firing mission and destroyed the first bullet; Private First Class Le Dac Hai, soldier of Platoon 5, Company 6, had a cold before the exercise, but he tried hard, took medicine and participated in the exercise with the unit...
Arriving at the AK shooting test field, lesson 1, Battalion 6, we witnessed the atmosphere of determination to achieve results in the "three explosions" test of the new soldiers. After each round of announcing the target, there was endless applause, cheering and congratulating the soldiers who achieved good shooting results. After completing the shooting test with a good score and receiving a flower for good shooting, Private Doan Cong Hieu, a soldier of Platoon 4, Company 9, could not hide his joy and said: "This flower of good shooting is the most meaningful gift I offer to celebrate the 133rd birthday of President Ho Chi Minh. There are two more test contents, I strive to achieve good results to be worthy of the help of the cadres at all levels and the trust of my parents and family".
Captain Nguyen Kim Chuong, Battalion Commander of Battalion 6, said: “Today’s weather was unfavorable, affecting the line of sight, but with effort and determination, the soldiers completed the task well. The results of the AK shooting test, lesson 1, were nearly 100% satisfactory, of which 85% were good and excellent.” We learned that the motivation from the spirit of emulation and achievement in all soldiers and the care and dedication of the staff at all levels were the factors contributing to the results of the training at Battalion 6.
The competitive spirit and affirmation through the results and achievements of each officer and soldier of Regiment 19 are the "flowers of victory" offered to celebrate the 133rd anniversary of Uncle Ho's birthday and the 55th anniversary of the Division's tradition day.
