60 years of construction and development milestone

2023 - Vinh city celebrates the 60th anniversary of its establishment and development . After this milestone, Vinh city is preparing to enter a new period of development with new space and stature. Vinh city's red street has a bright appearance with many new traffic and infrastructure works.

In particular, in the past 2 years, Vinh has invested in nearly 150 projects related to upgrading infrastructure and urban beautification.

The city must both carry out construction and ensure the normal operation of works such as water supply and drainage, lighting, and other technical infrastructure. In parallel with the renovation of urban infrastructure in the central area, developing services, trade and developing the night-time economy, but at the same time, reviewing and preparing planning for buffer zones and outskirts to enter a new phase with a larger mindset and stature.

With support policies from the central government and the province, the city has invested resources in accordance with the approved planning. Recently, the City People's Council continued to issue a Resolution approving the investment policy of 5 new projects, adjusting the policy of 33 projects and canceling 1 project. The city has implemented 389 urban improvement projects and 80 land exploitation projects. Currently, there are 66 completed projects, 135 unfinished projects, 45 projects preparing for investment and 63 new projects starting construction.

With the theme “Accompanying - Creating - Breaking through - Developing”, the city is the only district-level unit of Nghe An that maintains regular meetings between city leaders and businesses, cooperatives and business households in the area to remove difficulties for businesses. Currently, the city is implementing a project to encourage business households to establish enterprises, with 174 business households initially converting to enterprises.

Thanks to proactive management solutions, in 2023, for the first time, the city's economic growth rate reached 9.27%; budget revenue was nearly 4,000 billion VND; Vinh City Party Committee was honored to receive the title of Excellent Mission Completion from the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee; national defense and security were maintained, culture and education were the leading flag with 20 units achieving quality inspection and 3 more schools recognized as meeting national standards, the city had 79/86 schools meeting national standards, accounting for 91.86%.

Resolutely implementing the goal of green and sustainable urban areas

Mr. Nguyen Si Dieu - Vice Chairman of Vinh City People's Committee said: 2024 is a pivotal year to open a new development period. Along with striving for economic growth of over 9% and budget revenue of nearly 6,000 billion VND, the city will prioritize resources to continue urban renovation; at the same time, there are a number of solutions to promote socio-economic development to create momentum for the following year. Recently, to concretize Resolution No. 39/NQ-TW dated August 17, 2023 of the Politburo on the development direction of Nghe An to 2030, with a vision to 2050, the People's Committee of Nghe An province issued Decision No. 3836 approving the Vinh Urban Development Program to 2030, with a vision to 2050.

Accordingly, the natural area of Vinh city will be expanded to 250 km2 and it is expected that about 20,443 billion VND will be needed to build technical infrastructure works, social infrastructure and implement sustainable urban development programs and projects. Vinh will have 3 spatial areas for development with new opportunities and challenges.
