Born and raised in the land of cinnamon, Mr. Ly Hai, Dao ethnic group, Lang Moi village, Dai Son commune, always wondered how to increase the economic value of Van Yen cinnamon. Realizing that the traditional cinnamon growing model mainly sells raw materials at low prices, he decided to research and develop an organic cinnamon model according to VietGAP standards; in 2020, he established Binh An Cooperative to gather young people and households with the same will to grow, produce and process organic cinnamon products.

At first, there were only 16 members, mostly young people. Now, the cooperative has 42 members, with a charter capital of nearly 3 billion VND. The cooperative has linked production with more than 300 households in the commune with an area of 400 hectares; of which, there are 100 hectares of organic cinnamon. Instead of using chemical fertilizers and pesticides, he uses organic fertilizers and biological measures to protect crops.

Thanks to that, cinnamon products ensure quality that meets safety standards, no chemical residues, meeting the requirements of domestic and international markets. With guaranteed quality, the cooperative's organic cinnamon products have a selling price 20 - 30% higher than cinnamon grown by traditional methods. The cooperative's products are available in many domestic supermarket systems and are being promoted for export to Europe. Not only that, the cooperative creates jobs and stable income for more than 30 workers. The cooperative's typical product is "Thien Son Ngoc Que" which has been certified as a 3-star OCOP product.

Mr. Ly Hai shared: "The organic cinnamon model not only brings economic benefits, but also contributes to environmental protection, limits negative impacts from traditional agricultural cultivation, helps Van Yen cinnamon trees retain their characteristic flavor, and enhances brand value in the international market."

The VAC model combined with eco-tourism of Mr. Ngo Quang Ha, Tay ethnic group, Ban Lung village, Phong Du Thuong commune is also considered a typical green economic model of the locality. With an area of 4 hectares, Mr. Ha has implemented a model of growing organic fruit trees, raising cows for breeding, raising snails, and releasing fish. Not using industrial feed, he takes advantage of natural food sources and agricultural by-products to raise livestock, helping to reduce costs and create clean products. In addition to agricultural production, realizing the tourism potential of the locality with beautiful natural scenery and rich cultural identity, Mr. Ha invested in renovating and repairing houses to make homestays and initially attracted many tourists to visit, relax, and learn about the clean agricultural model.

Using the Internet as a bridge to learn agricultural knowledge and apply it in practice; at the same time, spending time visiting and learning some local livestock and crop development models to promote tourism on digital platforms. Thanks to that, each year, Mr. Ha's homestay has hundreds of visitors coming to visit and experience. With this model, Mr. Ha has an income of more than 150 million VND/year, creating jobs for more than a dozen local workers.

To promote, encourage and motivate young people to start businesses with green economic models, Van Yen District Youth Union has coordinated to organize training courses well so that young people have knowledge of starting businesses; act as a focal point to support, advise and connect product output orientation for models; coordinate with the district Social Policy Bank to promote support for young people to access preferential loans to serve economic development in 22/25 communes and towns with a total outstanding debt of over 142 billion VND to date; help and advise models to have the opportunity to access other preferential loans.

Mr. Vu Tung Lam - Secretary of Van Yen District Youth Union shared: "We have proactively consulted with local Party committees and authorities to create the best conditions to support young people to start businesses with green economic models; coordinate with experts to organize classes on clean production, product marketing and financial management; support young people to participate in seminars, fairs, connect with businesses to consume products; promote propaganda, gather young people with creative startup ideas to develop and replicate green economic models to create a sustainable direction for the future".

Van Yen youth are becoming the core force in developing green economy with environmentally friendly production models and bringing high economic value. Initial successes show that, with the right investment and determination of young people, green economy not only helps increase income, but also contributes positively to the sustainable development of the locality.
