On the afternoon of June 14, the Council for Appraisal of Communes meeting New Rural Area (NTM), Advanced NTM, and Model NTM standards of Thanh Hoa province held a conference to appraise the achievement of New Rural Area (NTM), Advanced NTM, and Model NTM standards in 2023 for 15 communes in 8 districts in the province. Comrade Le Duc Giang, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for the Implementation of National Target Programs of the province, Chairman of the Appraisal Council chaired the conference. Also participating were representatives of leaders of relevant departments, branches, sectors, and units who are members of the Appraisal Council.
At the conference, members of the Appraisal Council reviewed the documents, analyzed the advantages, disadvantages, and contents that need to be completed of the criteria for each commune.

Based on previous analysis and field inspections, 100% of the Appraisal Council members voted to recommend recognizing 7 communes: Minh Son (Ngoc Lac), Thanh Tho (Thach Thanh), Phong Loc, Cau Loc, Dong Loc (Hau Loc), Ha Ngoc and Ha Giang (Ha Trung) as meeting NTM standards.

4 communes meeting advanced NTM standards include: Dinh Hung (Yen Dinh), Xuan Thinh (Trieu Son), and Quang Duc and Quang Trach communes (Quang Xuong).
The two communes proposed to be assessed as meeting the model NTM standards are Hoang Thai (Hoang Hoa) and Quang Binh (Quang Xuong).

Speaking at the conclusion of the appraisal conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Giang acknowledged the efforts of the Provincial New Rural Development Program Coordination Office, member departments, branches, localities and people in preparing and implementing the criteria for building new rural areas, advanced new rural areas and model new rural areas.

In the current period, the construction of new rural areas is facing many difficulties because the new set of criteria has many advanced criteria, most of the localities that have not met the criteria are mountainous communes with difficult socio-economic conditions, many revenue sources of the districts have decreased, so the budget for implementing new rural areas is still limited.
