This year, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province released more than 1.3 million aquatic breeds including sea bass, yellowfin pompano and tiger prawn in natural water bodies. Of which, the Ray River area (Phuoc Thuan commune, Xuyen Moc district) received 1 million, the remaining more than 300,000 were released in the Cha Va River (Long Son commune, Vung Tau city).

To increase the survival rate, the provincial agricultural sector has selected breeds with an average size of 10cm/head, suitable for commercial farming standards and with good adaptability to the natural environment.
Ms. Pham Thi Na, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, said that the annual aquaculture release activity aims to protect and develop aquatic resources, while stabilizing the livelihoods of fishermen.
“Regenerating resources not only helps balance the ecosystem but also creates conditions for fishermen to maintain reasonable and sustainable exploitation activities instead of depending on natural exploitation resources that are gradually declining,” said Ms. Na.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ba Ria - Vung Tau, the province is developing a long-term plan to protect aquatic resources, focusing on controlling exploitation, encouraging farming models associated with conservation and raising public awareness. In addition to releasing seeds, the province is also implementing many measures to control overexploitation, protect spawning grounds and natural breeding grounds, aiming for sustainable aquaculture development.
