Hanoi has just received good news when the city no longer has poor households, only 890 near-poor households. To take care of Tet for near-poor households and households in difficult circumstances, the Fatherland Front and mass organizations in Hanoi have actively mobilized to have more resources to help people in difficult circumstances have a happy and fulfilling Tet.
In early 2025, families in difficult circumstances in the districts of Cau Giay, Bac Tu Liem, Nam Tu Liem, Thuong Tin, Thanh Tri, Hoai Duc, Phu Xuyen who are members in difficult circumstances of the Women's Union, Farmers' Association, Association of the Elderly... received meaningful gifts when participating in the program "Humanitarian Tet Market - Zero-VND Tet Market" of the Hanoi Red Cross Society.
This is the third consecutive year that the “Charitable Tet Market - Zero-VND Tet Market” has been organized. This year, the Hanoi Red Cross Society has coordinated with sponsors to organize the program right before the New Year with a total value of 1.6 billion VND. In addition to the program just organized, the Hanoi Red Cross Society also organized 30 Tet markets in districts, towns and cities and set a goal of caring for, supporting and giving 67,000 Tet gifts to people in difficult circumstances, people with disabilities and vulnerable people with a value of 33 billion VND.
In addition to the city's gift-giving activities during Tet, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and mass organizations have also actively participated. From the beginning of 2025, the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Hanoi issued a plan to care for and give gifts to near-poor households and households in especially difficult circumstances during the 2025 Tet holiday. Accordingly, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi allocated 2.46 billion VND from the Fund for the Poor to give to 2,370 near-poor households and households in difficult circumstances; 1.6 billion VND to give to 1,600 near-poor households and households in difficult circumstances affected by natural disasters in 2024. Hanoi also organized the program "Spring of Charity - Tet Sharing" in Chuong My district to give gifts to people in difficult circumstances. In addition, the Vietnam Fatherland Front in all districts, towns and cities organized gift-giving programs for near-poor households and households in difficult circumstances.
Typically, Hoan Kiem district recently organized the program "Spring of Charity - Tet Sharing", where 311 gifts with a total value of 435.4 million VND were given to families in difficult circumstances. Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hoan Kiem district Truong Thi Thanh Nhan - Head of the Fund for the Poor Mobilization Committee of the district said: "With the spirit of "Mutual love", in 2024, the People's Committee, the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Hoan Kiem district, the Fund for the Poor Mobilization Committee of Hoan Kiem district mobilized and received nearly 2 billion VND. This fund is used to help families in difficult circumstances, in which Hoan Kiem strives to ensure that all people in the area have a warm and happy Tet.
Ms. Dang Thi Phuong Hoa - Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City shared that every time Tet comes, Spring comes, the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels, sectors and the whole society join hands to support the poor, the disabled, workers, people in difficult circumstances... so that everyone can have Tet, every family can have Tet. The gifts, although not of great value, contain the warm love and sharing of the Party Committee, government and people with the desire to contribute to sharing difficulties, encouraging the spirit so that everyone, every family can celebrate the traditional Tet happily and safely.
Currently, Hanoi still has 890 near-poor households in need of help. The Vietnam Fatherland Front of Hanoi will continue to effectively carry out two key tasks: supporting housing and providing livelihoods to help escape poverty sustainably. In the immediate future, taking care of Tet for near-poor households and households in difficult circumstances is the responsibility of the Party Committee, the government as well as the community. The Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels will make every effort, be creative in forms of mobilization, promote the spirit of mutual love, mutual assistance, and sharing so that everyone and every family can have a warm and happy Tet.
