On November 7 in Tay Ninh province, Military Region 7 held a departure ceremony, assigning tasks to 4 teams to search for and collect the remains of martyrs who died in Cambodia, phase 24 (dry season 2024 - 2025).
According to the report at the ceremony, at the end of phase 13 (dry season 2023-2024), 4 K teams of Military Region 7 surveyed 382 areas in Cambodia, excavated over 36,000m3 of earth and rock, cleared over 24,800m2 of land, and brought back 574 martyrs' remains. In addition, the teams also effectively carried out mass mobilization work, defense diplomacy, cultural - artistic exchanges, physical education and sports. These activities have contributed to strengthening and maintaining the solidarity, friendship, and long-term attachment between the two peoples and armies of Vietnam and Cambodia.

Lieutenant General Tran Hoai Trung, Political Commissar of Military Region 7, expressed his gratitude to the ministries, branches, local authorities, the Specialized Committees of the provinces of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Royal Cambodian Army for creating favorable conditions for the search and collection of martyrs' remains. He also praised the efforts of the officers and soldiers of Team K and requested them to continue promoting the spirit of solidarity, overcoming difficulties, closely coordinating with local authorities, strictly observing discipline, and ensuring absolute safety during the performance of their duties.
At the ceremony, delegates offered flowers and incense to commemorate the heroic martyrs at the Hill 82 Martyrs Cemetery, and saw Teams K70 and K71 off through Xa Mat border gate to embark on their mission.
Previously, on November 6, the Steering Committee for the search, collection and identification of martyrs' remains in Tay Ninh province (Steering Committee 515 of Tay Ninh province) held a conference to agree on the signing of a plan to coordinate the search and collection of martyrs' remains in phase 24 (dry season 2024-2025) with the Specialized Committees of 5 provinces of the Kingdom of Cambodia (Banteay Meanchey, Oddar Meancheay, Siem Reap, Kampong Cham, Tboung Khmum).
At the conference, Mr. Nguyen Hong Thanh, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of Steering Committee 515 of Tay Ninh province, emphasized that the solidarity and friendship between the people of Vietnam and Cambodia has been built over many generations and has been strengthened through comprehensive cooperation activities from the central to local levels. In particular, the task of coordinating the search and collection of the remains of Vietnamese martyrs who died in Cambodia over the past 23 years is a prominent demonstration of this deep relationship.
After phase 23 (dry season 2023 - 2024), the Provincial Steering Committee 515 said that it had identified hundreds of uncollected martyrs' graves through information from the Cambodian government and people. Specifically, there are currently 62 locations in Tboung Khmum province, 64 locations in Seam Reap province, 14 locations in Kampong Cham province, 93 locations in Banteay Meanchey province and 32 locations of uncollected martyrs' graves in Oddar Meancheay province.
During the 2024 - 2025 dry season, the Tay Ninh Provincial Steering Committee 515 assigned Teams K70 and K71 to search for and collect martyrs' remains in 5 Cambodian provinces in two phases: phase 1 from November 7, 2024 to January 10, 2025 and phase 2 from February 24, 2025 to June 26, 2025.
On this occasion, Steering Committee 515 of Tay Ninh province awarded Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to collectives and individuals of 5 Cambodian provinces for their outstanding achievements in collecting martyrs' remains in the dry season 2023 - 2024.
In 2024, the Steering Committee 515 of Tay Ninh province coordinated to build and put into use 2 martyrs' remains funeral homes in Banteay Meanchey and Tboung Khmum provinces, in accordance with the traditional customs of Vietnam and Cambodia. The province also continues to coordinate with the specialized committees of Oddar Meancheay, Siem Reap, and Kampong Cham provinces to build 3 more funeral homes for martyrs' remains. |
