February 7 (January 10) is the God of Wealth's feast day. On this day, many people go to buy offerings to the God of Wealth with the meaning of welcoming the God of Wealth into their homes and praying for good fortune for the whole year. Therefore, the shops selling offerings to the God of Wealth are bustling with buyers and sellers.
The first offering that many people choose to buy to worship the God of Wealth is grilled snakehead fish. This morning, grilled snakehead fish shops in Dong Thap province were bustling with customers.
At Tan Toan grilled snakehead fish restaurant on Phan Boi Chau Street, Ward 1, Sa Dec City, Dong Thap Province, from 1 a.m., the restaurant mobilized more than 10 people to prepare 1,000 grilled snakehead fish to sell to customers, 10 times more than usual.
By 8am, nearly half of the snakehead fish in the restaurant had been sold. The price of each fish, along with vegetables, noodles, rice paper, and dipping sauce, was 160,000 VND, an increase of 10,000 VND compared to normal days.
Besides grilled snakehead fish, roast pork is also chosen by many people. From early morning, roast pork shops are crowded with customers.
Typically, at Tuan Ky roast pork restaurant on Hung Vuong street, Sa Dec city, on the day of God of Wealth, they prepared half a ton of roast pork. By nearly 8 am, more than half had been sold, with prices ranging from 350,000 to 400,000 VND/kg.
Steamed buns are also a hot item on God of Wealth Day. At My Lan Steamed Bun Shop on Hung Vuong Street, Sa Dec City, the shop has prepared 6,000 steamed buns, 5 times more than usual. The selling price is from 15,000 to 25,000 VND/bun, no increase compared to usual days.
In addition to the above products, flowers and fruits also sell well, especially at gold shops where many people come to buy to pray for luck in the new year.
