According to the Ministry of Health, in recent months, the number of food poisoning cases increased by 1,432 people (an increase of about 202%), the number of deaths decreased by 5 people (45.5%).

According to the Ministry of Health, the number of food poisoning cases tends to decrease in the northern mountainous region but increases in the central coastal region and the Southeast region.

Analysis by the Ministry of Health shows that food poisoning in kitchens, families, weddings/death anniversaries/parties has decreased in both the number of cases and the number of cases, but there is an increasing trend in eateries, restaurants/hotels, especially due to street food (for example in Khanh Hoa province, Dong Nai province, Soc Trang province).
Recently, there have been a number of food poisoning cases occurring in crowded communal kitchens at companies (Vinh Phuc province, Dong Nai province); school kitchens, and even canteens and food businesses around schools (Khanh Hoa province, Ho Chi Minh City).
The main causes of food poisoning are microorganisms and natural toxins. The main causes of death from food poisoning are alcohol poisoning and natural toxins.
Food products contaminated with microorganisms are mainly processed pork products and dishes containing chicken.
The Ministry of Health said that the Ministry has advised the Prime Minister to issue Official Dispatch 44/CD-TTg dated May 3, 2024 on preventing and handling food poisoning, directing ministries, branches and localities to fully implement measures to prevent, contain and overcome food safety incidents.

To prevent food poisoning, the Ministry of Health notes that, for the content of propaganda on knowledge of ensuring food safety in food production, business and consumption, it is necessary to pay attention to instructions on processing and preserving measures to ensure safety for traditional foods or according to local customs, in order to raise awareness, change behaviors and habits that do not ensure food hygiene and safety in choosing, processing, preserving and using food.
Only use food products and food ingredients with clear origin, source and labels. Absolutely do not use canned products that are expired, swollen, flattened, deformed, rusted, not intact or have unusual flavors or colors;
Do not self-pack foods in unfrozen conditions as this creates conditions for anaerobic bacteria to grow, such as Clostridium botulinum.
At the same time, mobilize the participation of businesses, communities, organizations, and social groups to join hands and contribute to clean, quality, and safe food.
Mobilize, propagate, commend, honor, and replicate advanced models in the production and trade of safe food; at the same time, criticize the production and trade of unsafe food that is harmful to human health.
The Ministry of Health requests the health sector of provinces and cities; the Department of Food Safety of Ho Chi Minh City; the Food Safety Management Board of Da Nang City and Bac Ninh Province to strengthen inter-sectoral work in inspecting, checking and supervising food safety; focusing on ready-to-eat food processing establishments, collective kitchens in industrial parks, schools and food service establishments, street food establishments, establishments producing and trading bottled and canned drinking water;
Pay attention to monitoring measures and provide appropriate guidance for mobile cooking services, party meals, wedding parties, and crowded funerals in the management area.
Resolutely handle and suspend operations of establishments that do not ensure food safety conditions, establishments that do not have a Certificate of food safety eligibility (subject to issuance).
At the same time, publicize violations and results of handling violations of organizations and individuals producing and trading food on mass media to promptly warn producers, traders and consumers.
Hanoi sets up 5 mobile anti-epidemic teams in flooded areas
According to information from the Hanoi Department of Health, in recent days, widespread heavy rains have caused flooding in some areas, concentrated in some communes of Chuong My and Quoc Oai districts.
In response to this situation, the Department of Health has established two inspection teams to inspect the medical response to flood and storm prevention. The Hanoi CDC has organized monitoring of 17 communes and wards in 9 districts, areas at risk before the storm and flood season.
In addition, Hanoi CDC has also established 5 mobile anti-epidemic teams to guide medical centers and coordinate with authorities at all levels to prepare enough 25% Cloramin B to carry out environmental sanitation as the water recedes, ensuring disease prevention and control.
Currently, the People's Committee of Chuong My district and the District Health Center have provided nearly 200kg of 25% Cloramin B to flooded communes and towns to serve the work of water and environmental treatment, and continue to provide additional supplies to units in need. At the same time, they have assigned 24/7 supervisory staff and 4 mobile teams to monitor, supervise and support flooded communes and towns.
Along with that, Chuong My District Medical Center has counted the pregnant women who are expected to give birth in flooded communes. At the same time, it has assigned medical staff to closely monitor the condition of the pregnant women and guide them to move to relatives' houses in areas that are not flooded. The district has also prepared a plan to coordinate with the general hospital to take pregnant women to the hospital when problems arise.
For Nam Phuong Tien commune, Chuong My district, there are 3 completely isolated villages. The commune health station has organized home medicine distribution for people with chronic diseases and skin diseases, eye diseases, diarrhea, etc.
In Quoc Oai district, the District Health Center has distributed 10kg of 25% Cloramin B to flooded communes to serve the work of water source and environmental treatment, and at the same time directed the health station to strengthen medical examination and treatment, provide guidance and timely treatment to patients in flooded areas.
Shorten the time for birth and death registration
The Ministry of Health has just sent a document to the directors of hospitals and institutes with beds under the Ministry of Health; Directors of Health Departments of provinces and centrally run cities; and Heads of Health Sectors regarding the continued connection of signed data on Birth Certificates and Death Certificates.
In which, Clause 2, Article 21 stipulates the responsibility of the health sector "Building a health sector database, ensuring the issuance, connection, and sharing of electronic birth and death certificate data with the Interconnected Public Service Software" to perform related administrative procedure groups in the online environment.
Clause 2, Article 5 stipulates that "Electronic data with digital signature of Birth Certificate is connected from medical examination and treatment facilities to the Public Service Software" is a component in the electronic connection file of administrative procedures for birth registration, permanent residence registration, and issuance of health insurance cards for children under 6 years old in cases where children have birth certificates issued by medical examination and treatment facilities.
Clause 1, Article 10 and Clause 1, Article 11 stipulate that "Electronic data with digital signature of the Death Certificate is automatically shared from the medical examination and treatment facility with the Public Service Interconnection Software" as a component in the electronic connection implementation dossier of administrative procedures for death registration, permanent residence cancellation, burial fee settlement, and survivorship allowance for cases where the deceased has a death certificate issued by the medical examination and treatment facility.
Article 25 stipulates the responsibilities of medical examination and treatment facilities: Heads of medical examination and treatment facilities are responsible for connecting and sharing digitally signed birth certificate and death certificate data with the Public Service Interconnection Software no later than 04 working hours after issuing the paper copies of Birth Certificate and Death Certificate;
Ensure technical infrastructure to serve the connection, update, and sharing of data with the Public Service Software; receive medical examination and treatment by personal identification number, ID card, citizen ID card or health insurance card, paper copy or electronic table.
According to the Ministry of Health, the implementation of data interconnection with digital signatures of Birth Certificates and Death Certificates issued by medical examination and treatment facilities to implement Project 06 has been directed by the Ministry of Health for all medical examination and treatment facilities to be routinely implemented from March 7, 2023.
To implement Decree 63/2024/ND-CP, the Ministry of Health requests units to direct, urge, and inspect affiliated medical examination and treatment facilities that are currently examining and issuing Birth Certificates and Notices to perform the following tasks:
Research and implement Article 25 of Decree 63/2024/ND-CP, continue to connect digitally signed data of Birth Certificates and Death Certificates and record the connection code on Birth Certificates and Death Certificates no later than 4 working hours after issuing paper copies to the Health Insurance appraisal portal according to the instructions of the Ministry of Health in documents directing the implementation of connecting data of Birth Certificates and Death Certificates to serve Project 06;
Inspect, urge and ensure that all medical examination and treatment facilities, after issuing Birth Certificates and Death Certificates, must sign the data and connect to the Health Insurance Appraisal Portal to share with the public service software, serving people to perform 2 groups of online public services related to birth and death registration.
