Not only is it an environment to enhance women's economic power, cooperatives and cooperative groups managed by women also contribute to increasing the connection between members, women and the Vietnam Women's Union.
Create an environment for women to become more involved in the Association.
Implementing the Project "Supporting cooperatives managed by women, creating jobs for female workers by 2030" (Project 01), the Kon Tum Provincial Women's Union has made the target of establishing and developing collective economy and supporting women to escape poverty sustainably into the criteria for annual emulation evaluation in all levels of the Union in the province.
Through propaganda and training, over 90% of specialized Union officials at all levels have improved their knowledge, skills, and methods of supporting women in developing collective economy and cooperatives for production and business; over 80% of members and women have improved their awareness of collective economy, employment, and entrepreneurship.
Chairman of the Kon Tum Provincial Women's Union Y Phuong said: implementing Project 01, the Standing Committee of the Kon Tum Provincial Women's Union has directed all levels of the Union to establish and maintain the operation of 7 cooperatives with 119 members, establish 37 association groups and cooperative groups, bringing the total number of collective economic models established by the Union at all levels to 175, with more than 2,500 members, of which more than 80% are ethnic minority women.
Through the establishment of economic development models along with activities to support women in improving their economic empowerment, every year, the Women's Union at all levels helps more than 500 women escape poverty sustainably; many projects and start-up ideas of cooperatives and cooperative groups managed by women have won high prizes in women's start-up and business start-up competitions organized by the Women's Union at all levels;
Many cooperatives and cooperative groups managed by women have been maintained and operated effectively, attracting many female workers. Since then, members have become more attached to the Association.
Changing the economic mindset of members
It is easy to see that when participating in cooperatives and cooperative groups, women not only have income but also participate in training and capacity building programs organized and jointly organized by the Association.
Ms. Mai Thi Huong, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors and Director of Huong Thanh Cooperative (Nhon Ly Commune, Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh), checks products at the store and introduces the products of the Cooperative.
In Dak Lak, the Women's Union at all levels has integrated programs and resources to implement Project 01 such as: training, consulting and technical support for applying 4.0 technology for more than 80 women members of livelihood groups, cooperatives, and cooperatives with women participating in management in particularly difficult communes and villages in Ea Sup district;
Coordinated with the Provincial Cooperative Union to organize 2 training courses on collective economic knowledge for 150 cadres and women members in 2 districts of Lak and Krong Ana... Thanks to that, many economic models have been born, contributing to changing the awareness and economic development thinking of ethnic minority women.
Speaking about this, Ms. To Thi Tam, President of the Dak Lak Provincial Women's Union, affirmed: When participating in collective economic models established with the support of the Union, women also actively participate in activities organized by the Union. Thereby, the position and role of the Union organization are increasingly enhanced.
Proactively seek out the Association to improve business knowledge
Ms. Mai Thi Huong, Director of Huong Thanh Seafood Production and Trading Cooperative, said that before, she was just a small trader, earning a living in the coastal area of Binh Dinh.
Through the programs to support collective economy and cooperatives managed by women at all levels of the Women's Union, she learned about and came to the Women's Union of Quy Nhon City (Binh Dinh Province) and received help, encouragement and support from the Union.
From the model of fish sauce production association, she and her members have developed into a seafood business cooperative as it is today and are active members participating in the Association's activities.
Ms. Hoang Thi Thanh Nha, Vice President of the Binh Dinh Provincial Women's Union, said that while in the past, the activities to support women in economic development of the Provincial Women's Union mainly focused on supporting women in accessing credit, now, with the requirements of Project 01, the support must be synchronous from equipping knowledge, skills, connecting to access credit, product consumption, brand building...
Through training courses for members of cooperatives, cooperative groups, and livelihood groups in the districts of Hoai An, An Lao, Tay Son, Van Canh, Vinh Thanh, etc., women have gained more knowledge about the process of implementing activities to support the application of science and technology, identifying and classifying groups/teams/cooperatives suitable for the application of science and technology, thereby creating added value in the production and business chain of women.
With these benefits, many women have overcome their inferiority complex and self-satisfaction, proactively seeking out the Association to improve their business knowledge, adapt to the laws of the market economy, and strive for economic development. This is also one of the factors contributing to improving the effectiveness of the Association's activities in the new situation.
