Director of Hue Monuments Conservation Center Hoang Viet Trung presents a souvenir to Ms. Sarah Hooper |
At the meeting, the two sides discussed plans to invite an Australian art troupe to participate in the Hue Festival 2025 and subsequent festivals. This is not only an opportunity to introduce Australian culture to the Vietnamese public, but also contributes to attracting more tourists from Australia to the ancient capital of Hue.
In addition, the two sides also discussed exchange programs for artists, experts and students through activities such as heritage summer camps and architectural design competitions. These programs will open up many opportunities for learning, exchanging and raising awareness about heritage, while creating momentum for tourism development associated with cultural preservation.
Preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage was also a key issue in the meeting. The Australian Consul General and the Hue Monuments Conservation Center discussed research cooperation and technical support in preserving traditional architecture, especially solutions to adapt to climate change. The two sides also aimed to apply new technology in the restoration and conservation of relics in Hue, while expanding connections with international academic forums and scientific conferences. These initiatives not only help preserve heritage sustainably but also improve the quality of training experts in this field.
After the working session, the delegation visited the painting exhibition “Sky, Mountains, Water | Allusive Panorama” by King Ham Nghi at Kien Trung Palace; visited Long An Palace - the main display place of the Hue Royal Antiquities Museum, listened to stories about the history of the museum's formation, the unique architecture of the palace during the reign of King Thieu Tri, and the treasures of the Nguyen Dynasty that are still preserved.
The meeting not only opened a new chapter in the cooperative relationship between Hue and Australia but also contributed to spreading the value of the ancient capital's cultural heritage to the world, towards sustainable development.
