Recently, a report from The Elec suggests that LG Display could join as the second OLED screen supplier for the next-generation iPhone SE.

The upcoming low-cost iPhone SE 4 is said to feature the same manufacturing process used to make the rear panel on the iPhone 16. One report says the display will be several generations old, reusing the iPhone 13's OLED panel and downgrading the specs to reduce manufacturing costs.

Previous reports suggested that BOE would be the first display supplier for the iPhone SE 4 (due to Samsung's lower panel costs), and Apple has previously worked with BOE on another iPhone model, so this isn't surprising.

However, BOE is expected to take a large market share in supplying OLED panels for the iPhone SE 4, said to account for 60-70% of the total number of panels, equivalent to 20 million units per year.

The rest of the OLED panel for the iPhone SE 4 is rumored to be LG Display. The source also revealed that Apple plans to use the iPhone 13's display panel for the SE 4 but will cut some features to make it more affordable.

Reusing the iPhone 13's panel would simplify the manufacturing process for manufacturers and reduce costs for Apple. Reports earlier this month suggested the iPhone SE 4 had a 6.06-inch display, while the iPhone 13 has a 6.1-inch display. So if the report is accurate, LG Display may need to make some adjustments to the panel to accommodate the next-generation iPhone SE.
