The fashion show "New Tradition" by designer Tuong Danh did not follow the administrative procedures as prescribed by the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City.

Previously, the New Tradition fashion show by designer Tuong Danh sparked mixed public opinion with the image of a model wearing a conical hat and a stylized yếm shirt, revealing her back and butt.

Another image that caused outrage was a male model wearing a yellow off-the-shoulder dress with a high neckline. While performing, he also held a golden bell in his hand. Along with that, many other designs inspired by the ao dai and ao yem also had bold cut-out details...

This collection has faced fierce opposition from experts. Artist and Ao Dai researcher Nguyen Duc Binh spoke out: "The person who created this costume does not understand tradition and cultural identity. This costume does not carry the cultural identity of the Vietnamese people.

The cultural identity of Vietnamese costumes is discreet, modest, and simple, but nowadays many designers cover it up with words like inspiration, modern breath, and the voice of the times we live in to create inappropriate and ridiculous costumes. They are mistaken. How can there be such inspiration? Costumes, whether innovative or not, must still exude the cultural identity of Vietnamese people."

Ton That Minh Khoi, the director of the historical project Thien Nam Lich Dai Hau Phi, criticized: "Since when has the traditional conical hat been associated with such vulgar, bare buttocks? I can't believe my eyes when I see these images!

Since when has the image of monks begging for alms, which is an extremely sacred image, reminiscent of the original Sangha, been distorted so terribly on the fashion runway?

All coming from a brand that pretends to be "traditional Vietnamese costumes", the indignation has reached its peak. Don't, don't ever use the excuse of "innovation" and "creativity" to brutally rape and kill traditional culture like this! I strongly condemn and oppose this collection and brand!".

The image made the audience angry in the show.

Meanwhile, many viewers also expressed their dissatisfaction with this collection. One person wrote: "The designer wants to bring traditional themes into the design but does not care about the values and images of Vietnamese people for generations. The image of traditional Vietnamese women is extremely beautiful and has its own charm. No matter how much innovation is needed, the core of tradition must be preserved."

Other viewers criticized more harshly: "As for the yếm, even though it is underwear, it is still a symbol of women, a symbol of softness, grace and elegance, not ridiculous enough to be paired with thongs and high heels like a stripper."
