There will be a parade to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification.

On the afternoon of August 12, the Central Steering Committee for the celebration of major holidays and important historical events of the country in the three years 2023 - 2025 worked with Ho Chi Minh City on preparations for the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

Standing member of the Secretariat Luong Cuong said that the Central Propaganda Department has issued instructions on organizing activities to celebrate major holidays and important historical events in the three years 2023 - 2025.

Among them, there are 3 very big events: The 70th anniversary of the historic Dien Bien Phu victory (already organized); the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification; the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Recently, the Central Steering Committee successfully organized 5 major activities, especially the 70th anniversary of the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory with a series of nearly 70 related activities, leaving a very deep impression on the people at home and international friends.

The Standing Member of the Secretariat said that the Central Steering Committee has drawn successful lessons, good experiences, and good practices, as well as pointed out and taken measures to overcome limitations to continue to lead, direct, organize, and successfully organize many major events of the country.

In 2024, there are two important events: the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital; the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day. The Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense and Hanoi City are urgently preparing.

In 2025, there are 5 major commemorative events, including the 95th anniversary of the Party's founding; the 135th birthday of beloved Uncle Ho; the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People's Public Security Forces' tradition day and the 20th anniversary of the National Day for National Security Protection; especially the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

At the meeting, leaders of Ho Chi Minh City, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense reported on preparations for the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.

Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai said that there will be a parade during the celebration, including 34 armed forces groups in the parade; 11 groups in the march. The total number of people participating in the parade is 11,220. The city will also organize cultural, artistic and sports activities; and launch a patriotic emulation movement.

Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized that there is not much time left from now until the organization of activities to celebrate major national holidays, while the workload is very high.

Regarding the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized that, in addition to the purpose of propagating and educating extensively about history and strengthening people's confidence, it also contributes to creating a favorable political and social atmosphere, motivating the entire Party, the entire army and the entire people.

The Politburo and the Secretariat have set very high requirements for organizing commemorative activities, focusing on major activities at the Central level, which must have both gratitude and political-ideological propaganda and education value, and must be new and attractive while ensuring practicality, safety, economy and people-orientedness.

The Steering Committee requested Ho Chi Minh City to urgently develop and complete a master plan for commemorative activities, to be completed in August. Agencies and units should focus on preparing to organize commemorative activities well, focusing on the central level.
