In recent years, Binh Thuan province has made efforts to find development directions to enhance the tourism position of the province. Because the province's tourism resources are diverse and rich, stretching along 192 km of coastline, especially the potential for rural tourism, it brings huge tourism advantages. However, the development of the industry is still not commensurate with its inherent potential, duplication in service products, and unique and distinctive tourism products are still limited.
Preserving the cultural features of traditional agricultural residents
Binh Thuan has a long-standing agricultural production associated with rural areas and traditional agriculture. The province's orientation is to shift the economic structure from agricultural production to industry and services to solve the problem of job creation, increase stable income for rural residents, and create sustainable development in the future. To solve the above difficulties, the province's tourism industry has been exploiting a new type of tourism, with its own unique characteristics from the province's existing vast rural and agricultural resources. Through tourism, it is possible to preserve the cultural features of traditional agricultural residents, and the humanistic values that are still preserved and passed down in rural areas. Sustainable development is the development direction that helps the province effectively shift its economic structure and achieve success.
Recently, the province's tourism industry has conducted many studies to find suitable directions to exploit tourism potential, solve employment problems for a part of young workers, shift the economic structure to service industries, provide on-site export goods of agricultural products, handicrafts, etc. Create additional income besides the main source of income from agricultural cultivation activities. In addition, developing tourism associated with agriculture and rural areas is an effective development strategy and policy to promote agricultural and rural development that has been successfully implemented by many localities. Because tourism development can bring direct economic, social and cultural benefits to the community, the locality has been affirmed in both theory and practice.
Currently, there are many types of tourism that have been developed, but one of the types of tourism that is developing rapidly, becoming a trend of the times, and attracting the most tourists is agricultural tourism and rural tourism. The activities, products and services of this type of tourism are closely linked to the exploitation and preservation of culture, heritage in rural areas and agricultural production activities to provide tourists with real experiences, enjoy cultural values, lifestyles and local cuisine, connect with nature, culture and people in rural areas. Diverse agricultural and rural tourism activities and products are often organized as short vacations, sightseeing tours, exploration, experience, and accommodation at large-scale farms or livestock farms in rural areas. From there, many agricultural and rural tourism destinations have been formed in some localities in the province. Some tourism models associated with agriculture and rural areas have initially brought about effectiveness.
Promote tourism with unique products
During the travel journey, in addition to enjoying services such as accommodation, sightseeing, and entertainment, tourists are especially interested in typical products that convey the cultural messages of each region and local people such as: agricultural products, cuisine, handicrafts, souvenirs, etc. These are the attractive factors that create a distinct impression at each destination. Currently, the province's tourist attractions have also been arranged and built to display and introduce typical products. Localities also select and mobilize households to maintain activities and services to prepare traditional dishes to introduce to tourists to enjoy and experience the preparation methods, encourage households and establishments specializing in the production of souvenirs and local specialties, especially OCOP-certified products, to introduce and sell products at restaurants and hotels in the province.
Accordingly, the tourist area in Tanh Linh district is associated with product chains such as cashew nuts, snakehead fish, and various types of wooden handicrafts. The tourist area in Bac Binh district is associated with product chains such as sun-dried beef, melon, and monitor lizard meat. Tuy Phong district is associated with product chains such as grapes, La Gan bird chili, tragacanth gum, and herbs from the ginseng tree. La Gi town is associated with fresh seafood products of all kinds. In the city. Phan Thiet is associated with the promotion and sale of fish sauce, seafood of all kinds, dragon fruit, Binh Thuan green rice flakes, rice paper rolls, Phi Long sand paintings and products such as Dong Ha green-skinned grapefruit, Romô durian, coffee, cashew nuts, pepper in Duc Linh district, sightseeing and sales services at dragon fruit gardens in Ham Thuan Nam district... Although these typical products are not the key factor in tourism development, it is undeniable that the lack of typical products, gifts, and souvenirs will somewhat affect the tourism image of the locality. The search and development of typical products need to continue to be of interest, contributing to the attractiveness of each destination, enough to attract domestic and foreign tourists and international tourists.
