My Dinh Stadium is in disrepair but still allows students to play amateur tournaments

My Dinh Stadium continues to be rented out to organize grassroots football tournaments in the context of the grass being assessed as degraded and not meeting V.League competition standards.

On the afternoon of April 1, My Dinh National Stadium continued to be rented out as an event venue. A soccer tournament for high school students took place right on the main field. The playing area was marked and controlled in a corner of the field, close to the sideline near the space that is used as the team's technical area in professional matches.

The matches took place continuously in the afternoon, with the participation of many teams and were publicly broadcast live on social networks. The exploitation and rental of the stadium is under the authority of the My Dinh National Stadium Management Board and has happened many times before. In addition to renting the venue to grassroots football organizations, My Dinh Stadium is also the venue for a number of other performance events.

The fact that My Dinh Stadium is being rented out for non-professional sporting events - right on the main grass field - has raised public concerns about the quality of the field, which has been severely degraded in recent times. On April 5, The Cong Viettel Club will play here, meaning My Dinh Stadium has less than 4 days to restore the grass.

On the morning of April 1, VPF requested The Cong Viettel to coordinate with the stadium management unit, temporarily suspend all activities on the grass, and maximize measures to care for and maintain the field. This team cannot proactively solve the problem of the field. The reason is that The Cong Viettel Club does not own or manage the stadium. They only rent the field for use in home matches of the V.League and National Cup in the situation that they cannot use Hang Day Stadium like in previous seasons.

The poor condition of My Dinh Stadium has been a constant source of complaints from football teams recently. In the match between The Cong Viettel and Hoang Anh Gia Lai on March 30, the players played on a pitch that was mottled with yellow grass. Some areas within the playing area were bumpy.

According to VPF, the fact that My Dinh Stadium is being used to host events, along with ineffective care and maintenance of the turf, are the reasons for this situation. On April 3, the tournament organizers will evaluate the quality of the turf. More than 1 day is too short a period of time for the parties to improve the quality of the turf.

According to VTC News reporters, The Cong Viettel Club is currently making efforts with many solutions to ensure the quality of the pitch required by VPF. This team hopes to still play at My Dinh Stadium in the match against Quang Nam on April 5.
