The organizing committee of V.League 2024-2025 announced that two foreign referees will officiate the match between Hanoi and Thanh Hoa clubs (taking place at 7:15 p.m. on April 6 at Hang Day Stadium, Hanoi). The referees hired by Vietnam Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) are both Malaysians - Mr. Mohamad Kamil Zakaria Bin Ismail and Razlan Joffri Bin Ali.

One of the two people takes on the role of main referee. The other person is in charge of the VAR ( video assistant referee) room.

Mr. Mohamad Ismail, who has been to Vietnam, was invited to officiate the final play-off match of the 2023-2024 V.League season between Ha Tinh and PVF-CAND.

Mr. Ismail has only worked at the highest level of Malaysian professional football since 2021. However, he quickly affirmed his reputation when he was voted the best referee of 2023 by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).

In addition, referee Ismail has participated in a number of matches involving Vietnamese teams. He was the fourth referee (table referee) in matches between Thanh Hoa Club and Hanoi Police in the Southeast Asian Cup. At the AFF Cup 2024, Mr. Ismail took on a similar role in the match between the Vietnamese team and Laos.

Mr. Razlan Ali is also not a new name in V.League. In the 2023 season, Mr. Ali was invited to officiate 2 matches. In the 2023-2024 season, this referee continued to officiate in round 24 between Quang Nam and Song Lam Nghe An. Like his compatriot Ismail, Mr. Ali participated in the AFF Cup 2024 as the fourth referee, participating in the first leg of the semi-final between the Vietnamese team and Singapore.
