France's Holger Rune lost to Casper Ruud 1-6, 2-6, 6-3, 3-6 in the quarter-finals of Roland Garros on June 7.
After a controversial five-set win over Francesco Cerundolo in the fourth round, Holger Rune was not in the best of spirits when he faced Casper Ruud in the quarterfinals. The Dane started poorly, making seven double faults in just his first four games. At 1-6, 0-2, Rune had just six winners but made 25 unforced errors.

After losing the first two sets 1-6, 2-6 in just over an hour, Rune came back by winning the first serve game of the third set, leading Ruud 3-0. The sixth seed maintained the advantage to win 6-3 and take the match into a fourth set.
Last year, Rune and Ruud met in the quarterfinals of Roland Garros. Ruud won in four sets, with both sides and their parents exchanging words in the media after the match. This year, things were less tense off the court, and the results on the court were not much different. Ruud started well in the fourth set and won 6-3, closing out the match in four sets after two hours and 44 minutes.
In fact, Rune played well in the second half of the match and had chances to come back. The 20-year-old attacked fiercely, scoring 48 winners - one and a half times more than his opponent. But sometimes being too hasty in ending the rallies caused Rune to make many mistakes. He made 47 errors himself, while his opponent only made 29. Ruud played more consistently throughout the match and won a ticket to the semi-finals against Alexander Zverev.
The 22nd seed Zverev ended the journey of "dark horse" Tomas Martin Etcheverry with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory, reaching the semi-finals for the second year in a row. Last year, a sprained ankle in the semi-final against Nadal caused Zverev to miss the rest of the season and drop down the ATP rankings.
The two men's singles semi-finals between Ruud - Zverev and Carlos Alcaraz vs Djokovic will take place from 8pm on Friday, June 9, Hanoi time.
