Real Madrid activated the first "blockbuster" in the summer of 2023 when recruiting midfielder Jude Bellingham from Dortmund.
"The deal has come true. Real Madrid will pay Dortmund $110 million in advance. In addition, the transfer fee can increase by up to 30% compared to the initial value depending on Real's achievements or the player's performance in the next six seasons," Dortmund announced at noon on July 6, Berlin time, confirming Bellingham's transfer to Real.

Bellingham is Real's top target in the summer transfer window of 2023. The 19-year-old midfielder's impressive performances for Dortmund and England at the 2022 World Cup have convinced president Florentino Perez and Real's board of directors. Bellingham has also expressed his desire to play for Real.
Because Man City and several other big clubs also want Bellingham, since last weekend, Real has accelerated negotiations with Dortmund to stay one step ahead of their rivals.
Bellingham came through the Birmingham City academy before moving to Dortmund in 2020, where he became a mainstay at Signal Iduna Park and occasionally captained the side. The midfielder, born in 2003, left Dortmund after 92 appearances for the club, scoring 12 goals. He was named Bundesliga Player of the Year in the 2022-23 season.

Bellingham brings Real another bright young talent to gradually refresh the midfield. Previously, they recruited Eduardo Camavinga from Rennes in the summer of 2020, then bought Aurelien Tchouameni from Monaco last summer. This trio will ensure high-quality and abundant personnel for Real, along with Federico Valverde, as the two veterans Luka Modric and Toni Kroos gradually suffer the burden of age.
In parallel with negotiations to buy Bellingham from Dortmund, Real is also actively pursuing Harry Kane. The England and Tottenham striker is considered a quality solution to fill the void left by Karim Benzema - the leader who just moved to the Saudi Pro League.
