Today, September 10, Permanent Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong chaired a meeting with departments, branches and localities to submit to the Provincial People's Council for approval of the policy for 2 projects: Improving the capacity of solid waste collection and treatment to protect the environment and adapt to climate change in the northern region of Quang Tri province; Providing clean water and managing water resources in 3 communes of Cam Chinh, Cam Nghia and Cam Tuyen (Cam Lo district).
The project to improve the capacity of solid waste collection and treatment to protect the environment and adapt to climate change in the northern region of Quang Tri province is led by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, with implementation period from 2024 to 2026, funded by the Italian Government.
The project aims to contribute to the construction of a complete system for collecting, classifying and treating solid waste in the northern region of Quang Tri province, ensuring that the reuse and recycling rate of domestic solid waste reaches over 65%; the rate of solid waste reused and recycled for energy recovery or fertilizer production reaches over 85%.

The project scale includes 5 main and auxiliary items with a total investment of 45 billion VND, of which non-refundable ODA capital is more than 36.5 billion VND, the rest is counterpart capital.
The Clean Water Supply and Water Resources Management Project in 3 communes of Cam Chinh, Cam Nghia, Cam Tuyen was proposed and owned by Cam Lo District People's Committee, with implementation period from 2024 - 2026, funded by the Italian Government.
The project's goal is to ensure domestic water supply with a water supply standard of 80÷100 liters/person/day and night with quality meeting Vietnam Standard QCVN 01-1:2018/BYT for an area with 4,480 households/17,131 people.
Ensure domestic water supply for 100% of rural households, complete clean water criteria in the construction of advanced new rural areas; change the habit of using wells of local people, minimize and limit the spontaneous exploitation of groundwater by local people, move towards controlling and strictly managing the exploitation of groundwater in the project implementation area and using concentrated water through treatment to ensure safety and protect the health of local people.
The project scale includes 3 main items with a total investment of more than 37.2 billion VND, of which non-refundable ODA capital is nearly 30 billion VND, the rest is counterpart capital.
After listening to opinions from departments, branches and localities, concluding the meeting, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong emphasized the rationality and necessity of the above projects in protecting the environment, adapting to climate change, and ensuring clean water sources for people.
In order for the project to be implemented soon in accordance with regulations, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the investor and the consulting unit to receive opinions from functional agencies to complete the content of the dossier on explanations, specific plans, legal basis, and high persuasiveness before submitting to the Provincial People's Council for consideration.
Regarding the Clean Water Supply and Water Resources Management Project in the three communes of Cam Chinh, Cam Nghia, and Cam Tuyen, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested Cam Lo District to submit to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment for appraisal and submit to the Provincial People's Committee for approval of a suitable land use plan, ensuring legality and consistency before submitting to the Provincial People's Council in accordance with regulations.
