Ho Chi Minh City Que Tran was moved to remember her father - "commander of ancient opera" Thanh Tong - when she received the title of People's Artist at the age of 43.
Among the 25 artists in Ho Chi Minh City who were awarded the title of People's Artist, Que Tran is the youngest. Her father - artist Thanh Tong (1948-2016) - received this title at the age of 61.
At the ceremony organized by the Department of Culture and Sports on the evening of March 28 to honor the winners of the People's Artist and Meritorious Artist titles this year, Que Tran arrived early and spent time walking around the portrait exhibition of outstanding artists in the City Theater. Stopping for a long time next to her portrait placed next to the images of her predecessors such as Thanh Kim Hue and Trong Phuc, Que Tran cried and said: "Maybe my father is happy for me."
Growing up in the Bau Thang - Minh To troupe, the oldest traditional opera family in the South, Que Tran was taught by her father her love of traditional singing since childhood. At the age of nine, after studying at the Bach Long children's troupe, artist Thanh Tong took her to perform with him on many professional stages. Step by step into the profession, thanks to her father's guidance, Que Tran became attached to the stage, had many famous roles, and won the gold medal at the Tran Huu Trang Cai Luong award at the age of 18. She is remembered by the audience through many memorable roles such as: Nga ( Khuc Ly Huong ), Phuong ( Con Mat Thoi Gian ), Princess Thien Kieu ( Trang Hoa Mai ).

The shock of her father's sudden death in 2016 left Que Tran feeling unsteady and disoriented for a long time. The actress said that there were times when she could not accept the truth and wanted to quit her singing career because she no longer had any spiritual support. "Whenever I feel weak, looking at my father's portrait, I remember his advice: Never stop striving, never give up. I vow to pursue singing for the rest of my life to make my father happy and also to be worthy of being a descendant of the Minh To - Thanh Tong troupe," the artist said.
Having been singing and performing for nearly 30 years, Que Tran does not strive for achievements or medals, but only sings to satisfy her passion. "Recently, Cai Luong has shown signs of revival. When performing, I have witnessed many stages always lit up, with every show full of audiences," she said.

At the ceremony, the artists shared the joy of receiving the title . Previously, many of them were elderly and weak, unable to attend the award ceremony of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Hanoi in early March.
Sitting in a wheelchair at the ceremony, artist Hung Minh said that becoming a People's Artist was a great consolation for him in the face of his difficult life and illness at the age of 94. Having devoted nearly his entire life to the reformed theater, and being a once-famous actor, he has recently been "hospitalized like a daily meal". "I want to dedicate this title to my wife, who has shared my suffering for so long," Hung Minh said.

Thanh Dien was the only person to go on stage twice to receive the title of People's Artist - for himself and his wife, artist Thanh Kim Hue (1954 - 2021). His legs were shaking, he had to be helped onto the stage, the cai luong artist was moved when receiving a congratulatory bouquet of flowers from the city leaders. He wished his wife was still by his side to hold her hand on the happy day. Nearly three years since Thanh Kim Hue passed away from cancer, not a day has passed without him feeling empty because he misses her.
