On behalf of more than 100 athletes participating in the tournament, athlete Trinh Hoang Yen thanked Vietnam Law Newspaper for coordinating with Tram Tau District People's Committee and Hung Viet Travel Company to create a wonderful playground for journalists across the country. "I hope Vietnam Law Newspaper will organize more tournaments for our press community," said an athlete from Yen Bao Provincial Journalists Association.

Journalist Trinh Hoang Yen has participated in the tournament since the first season. Last year, this athlete took the wrong route and finished second.

Finishing second was athlete number 046 Tran Quang Phat, from the Sports Department of Vietnam Television, with a time of 2 hours and 26 minutes.

Before that, the members of the Organizing Committee, mainly men, waited at the top of Ta Xua, painstakingly arranging colorful bouquets of flowers, selected from rhododendrons and mountain flowers, to welcome the athletes to the finish line.

This morning , April 12, more than 100 journalists and reporters from news agencies across the country enthusiastically "joined the race" for the "Steps on the Clouds" to conquer Ta Xua peak from the foot of the mountain in Sang Nhu cluster, Ta Xua village, Ban Cong commune. At 8:30 , more than half of the athletes had reached hut 1, at an altitude of 1,848m. The first athlete had crossed the dinosaur's back. The media team, referees, and security forces were well prepared, waiting to welcome the athletes to the finish line.

The road from hut 4 to the top is dry and convenient for athletes to reach the finish line.

Journalist Van Hung shared that this is the second time Van Hung has participated in "Steps in the Clouds". “I am very excited to conquer Ta Xua peak. To prepare for this journey, in the past, I spent a lot of time practicing with the determination to compete in October 2024. However, unfortunately, during that time there were incidents of storms, floods, and natural disasters, so "Steps in the Clouds" to conquer Ta Xua peak was temporarily stopped and restarted in April 2025. Recently, I have not practiced much so my confidence level is not very high. But I am determined to overcome my limits and conquer Ta Xua peak", journalist Van Hung said.

The 2nd “Steps on the Clouds” Mountain Climbing Tournament - Conquering Ta Xua Peak, Tram Tau District in 2025 has 100 athletes participating. The athletes participating in the tournament will be supported by the Organizing Committee for all travel, food and accommodation expenses during the tournament. In addition, the Organizing Committee also prepares a number of functional foods for the athletes, supporting the athletes to ensure their health during the tournament. In which, some products are sponsored by sponsors for the tournament.

Athletes before departure

To ensure absolute safety during the tournament, the Organizing Committee has assigned medical staff, police, military, and youth union members to be on duty at checkpoints and rest stops along the mountain climbing route, ready to respond to any emergency situations.

The Organizing Committee has arranged personnel with necessary supplies at 5 medical support points including: Medical support point No. 1: Located at the location with the identifying name "Two apple trees", about 3,700 meters from the starting point; Medical support point No. 2: Located at the beginning of "Dragon's spine", the area near Ta Xua Resting Shelter No. 1 and about 2,500 meters from medical support point No. 1.

Medical support point No. 3: Located in the middle of the “Dragon’s Back” and about 1,000 meters from medical support point No. 2; Medical support point No. 4: Located at the end of the “Dragon’s Back”, close to Ta Xua Resting Shelter No. 2 and No. 3 and about 2,000 meters from medical support point No. 3.

Medical Support Point No. 5: Located next to Ta Xua Resting Shelter No. 4 and about 1,800 meters from Ta Xua peak.

Along the competition route, there will be members of the Organizing Committee, along with military forces, police, local medical staff and porters to support athletes when necessary, except in cases that may affect the competition results.

Participating in this tournament, athletes will have to overcome a distance of about 12 km of mountainous road. The starting point is at the foot of the mountain (in Ban Cong commune, Tram Tau district) and the destination is Ta Xua peak, at an altitude of 2,865m above sea level, this is one of the highest peaks in Vietnam. Ta Xua mountain is located in the south of Hoang Lien Son range, bordering Tram Tau district, Yen Bai province and Bac Yen district, Son La province.

On the journey to conquer Ta Xua mountain peak, athletes will experience the feeling of sublimation when conquering steep paths, crossing the ancient Rhododendron forest covered with moss.

One of the highlights of the journey is the “Dragon’s Spine” - a long, narrow mountain range, hidden in the sea of ​​clouds like a giant dragon’s spine. This will be a challenging stretch of road, requiring athletes to have courage and solid climbing skills. However, when overcoming this stretch of road, athletes will enjoy an extremely impressive scene with white clouds floating, covering the valleys below, creating a magical and majestic natural picture.

Conquering Ta Xua peak is a wonderful experience, not only to challenge yourself but also to enjoy the wild natural beauty of the country. Every step on this journey will bring memorable emotions and unforgettable memories.

Within the framework of the Tournament, the Organizing Committee also presented water purifiers worth more than 300 million VND and textbooks, notebooks, and school supplies to students at the Xa Ho Primary and Secondary Boarding School, Tram Tau District.

After completing the tournament, on the morning of April 13, the organizing committee will award medals to the athletes at Ta Xua peak.

On the evening of April 13, the closing ceremony will take place at Cuong Hai Tourism Cooperative, Residential Group 3, Tram Tau Town, Tram Tau District. On the closing night, the Organizing Committee will present 15 Thong Nhat bicycles to 15 students with difficult circumstances and high academic achievements in Tram Tau District.
