Quang Nam implements plan to consider awarding artisans

This is an activity to honor outstanding individuals, contributing to preserving and promoting the value of traditional cultural heritage of the locality.

The title of "People's Artisan" is awarded to artisans who have been awarded the title of "Meritorious Artisan", have been involved in the profession for at least 20 years and have created works that have won prestigious national or international awards. In addition, they must have made important contributions to teaching the profession to the next generation.

The title of "Meritorious Artisan" is awarded to artisans who have been in the profession for at least 15 years, creating products that are highly appreciated in terms of economics, technique and aesthetics. In addition, they must also teach the profession to 100 people or more or have made significant contributions to the preservation of traditional craft heritage.

In particular, this time Quang Nam requested not to consider individuals who are being considered for or have been awarded the title of "People's Artisan" or "Meritorious Artisan" in the field of intangible cultural heritage of traditional crafts.

Applications for the title will be accepted until October 2, 2025 at the Department of Industry and Trade of Quang Nam. After that, the nomination list will be made public on the electronic information portal from October 6, 2025 to October 20, 2025 for people to comment. After that, the professional councils will evaluate the actual situation at the production facilities. The official review results will be announced by the Provincial People's Committee before December 3, 2025. The proposed dossiers will be sent to the specialized council at the ministerial level before January 10, 2026.

The award ceremony will be held after the President's decision on the award is issued, expected to take place in the second quarter of 2026.

The activity of awarding the titles of "People's Artisan" and "Meritorious Artisan" is not only to honor outstanding individuals but also to contribute to preserving and promoting the traditional craft values ​​of Quang Nam, while at the same time inspiring passion and responsibility to preserve the craft for future generations.

According to statistics, as of August 2024, Quang Nam province has a total of 54 artisans and skilled workers; including 23 artisans and 20 skilled workers. In particular, the province is proud of 2 folk artisans, Mr. Huynh Ri (wood carving artisan in Cam Kim commune, Hoi An city) and Mr. Nguyen Van Tiep (wood carving artisan in Dien Phuong ward, Dien Ban town).
