The festival, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the People's Committee of Nghe An province and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, took place from November 22 to 26 in Vinh City (Nghe An), with the participation of 11 typical art troupes nationwide.
During this cultural festival, artists, actors, and artisans of the Quang Nam Provincial Mass Art Troupe performed special performances imbued with the traditional culture of the land and people of Quang in the traditional colorful picture of Vietnam. In the end, all four performances of Quang Nam won high prizes.
Specifically, there were 2 A prizes (the performance "Folk singing and playing Bai Choi" and the independent dance "Soul of Pottery"); 1 B prize (the singing and dancing performance "Returning to the heritage land") and the award for the graceful traditional ao dai performance (the performance "Performance of traditional ao dai"). In addition, the Hanoi Dance Artists Association awarded a Certificate of Merit to the independent dance "Soul of Pottery" (choreographer: Ngoc Tram).
Sharing her joy after receiving the award, Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Tram - choreographer of the dance "Pottery Soul", said: "I have gone to the field many times to learn about the pottery making process at Thanh Ha pottery village (Hoi An). When staging this performance, I tried to arrange the dance movements, dance formation and props such as clay, pottery vases, along with choosing background music and LED images to create artistic effects, breathing life into the dance "Pottery Soul"".
According to Ms. Ngoc Tram, the performance aims to convey the message that Thanh Ha pottery village is a traditional craft village and a famous tourist destination of Quang Nam to the Nghe An audience and participating groups. "The A prize achievement of the organizing committee and the Certificate of Merit of the Hanoi Dance Artists Association are great encouragements to help me and the dancers of Quang Nam continue to create and practice on the path of artistic work" - Ms. Ngoc Tram said.
Mr. Nguyen Van Phuoc - the author of the lyrics and the director of the show "Folk performance of Bai Choi" said that Bai Choi is the most typical of the "Quang quality" in the traditional folk art forms of Quang Nam.
“Therefore, I used the melodies of Ho Quang, Xuan Nu, Ho Ba Ly, Ly Vai Chai… in each lyric. All the actors and actresses coordinated smoothly and gracefully with witty acting and flexible juggling to recreate the joyful and bustling space of singing Bai Choi. Being able to participate in this cultural festival, myself as well as the actors and musicians, to meet, interact and exchange experiences in creative work is the most precious thing. I feel more responsible for preserving and promoting the Bai Choi art heritage” - Mr. Phuoc shared.
According to the organizers, the festival aims to honor the beauty in the diversity and richness of folk art forms on the basis of harmoniously combining tradition and modernity. Nearly 40 performances were performed impressively and attractively by the groups during the festival days. This is one of the cultural activities to celebrate Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day (November 23).
Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong - Director of Quang Nam Cultural Center said that the delegation carefully selected performances that reflected and honored the beauty of the diversity and richness of Quang Nam's folk art forms on the basis of harmoniously combining tradition and modernity. All 4 participating performances won awards, including a double award for the dance performance "Pottery Soul".
“All of this is the result of the dedicated artistic work of those working in the cultural and artistic fields at the Quang Nam Cultural Center. Promoting the achieved results, in the coming time, the center will make more efforts, participating in regional and national competitions, festivals, and performances, while serving political tasks on major holidays of the province and the country. The Quang Nam Cultural Center will also have many activities to serve the grassroots, improve the spiritual life, and enjoy the cultural and artistic activities of the people in the province,” said Ms. Huong.
Closing the days of the traditional folk art festival “Vietnam - Heritage Colors” was very bustling and unique in Vinh city. Converging, creating and shining together, conveying the typical colors of rich traditional folk art and culture is the common message of this festival. In which, together with other provinces and cities, the Quang Nam Mass Art Troupe has contributed to vividly expressing, dedicating and spreading the typical cultural values of Quang Nam, such as the song “Bai Choi” still resounding “Happy Heritage Day today/ All regions of the country gather here/ North - Central - South we return together…”.
