On the evening of December 11, 2024, at the Hanoi Opera House, the Ministry of Information and Communications held the Opening Ceremony of the Exhibition and announced the awards for the Photo and Video Contest "Happy Vietnam - Happy Vietnam 2024". Attending the ceremony were leaders of the Party and State, leaders of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Central Propaganda Department, the Central External Relations Department, the Steering Committee for External Information Work; representatives of leaders of central and local ministries, branches.
Applying digital technology to creating photos and videos about the country and people of Vietnam
Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Nguyen Manh Hung, member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Information and Communications affirmed, The Opening Ceremony of the Exhibition and Announcement of the Awards of the Photo and Video Contest "Happy Vietnam - Happy Vietnam" 2024 is an important event to honor people across the country, overseas Vietnamese, and international friends who apply digital technology to create photos and videos about the country and people of Vietnam.

According to the Minister, the creativity and vitality of the People from the first competition in 2023 have spread throughout the country and the world. After the award ceremony last year, the Ministry of Information and Communications organized 15 exhibitions at home and abroad and transferred them to the Central Ministries, Departments, and many localities to organize exhibitions at major foreign affairs activities. The Organizing Committee sent works to the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela, Australia, Sweden, Italy and many representative agencies abroad... to organize exhibitions.
Minister Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized: "Digital technology helps people record, preserve and share the happy moments they see. Happiness is a great thing but it is within us. Happiness is familiar and simple. But many times we have happiness but pass by it, forget it or we pass by without knowing it. The Happy Vietnam photo and video contest also conveys the message to save the moments, whether happy or sad, but all towards a better life."

According to the World Happiness Report 2024 released on March 20, 2024, Vietnam is among the top 10 happiest countries or territories in Asia. Vietnam holds the 54th position globally, up 11 places compared to 2023.
“In the journey of happiness, there are contributions from the people and the Happy Vietnam 2024 Awards Ceremony represents part of those contributions. This is a testament to the spreading power of the Happy Vietnam spirit, which has gone beyond the framework of a competition, a country, a region,” Minister Nguyen Manh Hung assessed.
The 2024 contest was launched nationwide, with close and effective coordination between local leaders, Departments of Information and Communications; Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Literature and Arts Associations of provinces and cities. Last year, the contest attracted more than 7,000 entries, this year the number has increased to more than 10,300 entries from nearly 6,900 authors, including 600 foreign authors and nearly 270 overseas Vietnamese authors. On the Vietnam.vn platform, there have been more than 90 million visits, of which over 35% are from abroad. After many days of serious and impartial work, the Jury and Organizing Committee selected 60 videos and 150 photos to display at the exhibition, of which 34 best works were awarded prizes.
Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung and Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department Ngo Dong Hai awarded Gold medals to the two authors whose works won the highest prizes in the contest.
According to the Organizing Committee, this is the second year the Contest has been held online on the Vietnam Image Promotion Platform at: https://vietnam.vn . Compared to 2023, the Contest has had a strong spread when all 63 provinces and cities had authors participating. Hanoi ranked first in the number of entries, followed by Quang Ninh and Ho Chi Minh City. As a result, after 7 months of launching (from March 20, 2024 to October 15, 2024), the Organizing Committee received more than 10,300 photo and video entries.
The contest was also widely promoted on social networks, targeting the overseas Vietnamese community and foreigners. Thanks to that, nearly 600 foreign authors and about 270 overseas Vietnamese authors registered for the contest. The contest is a testament to the patriotism and dedication of people across the country to promote the image of the country, people, and beautiful cultural traditions of our nation to the international community. At the same time, the contest also shows a new trend in social media work, based on the application of digital technology, digital platforms and mobilizing the strength of the entire population to develop digital data to effectively serve information and propaganda work.
The photo "Sweet Happiness" by author Vu Dieu Hoa won the Gold Medal.
Many works were presented with a new, objective perspective on life, society and the development of the country and people of Vietnam, conveying the message of a happy, civilized and powerful Vietnam. In addition, the works also recreated the creative journey of the authors associated with the flow of life in the past year, connecting them with the characters they met and came into contact with. The contest also helped the authors have special journeys, meet and honor, spread the images and values of special people. The authors come from many different professions, different ages, different ethnicities, different languages, using different devices but all represent a peaceful, beautiful Vietnam, which is developing dynamically and is a happy country./.
