Promotion through literature and art
In the last days of 2024, sunny and windy Dak Nong welcomed a group of 22 artists from various provinces to participate in the Literature and Art Creation Camp specializing in Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark (GGP). The images of the land, people and heritage were deeply engraved in their minds, becoming an endless source of inspiration for works of art.
Painter Pham Van Hung, Ha Giang Province Literature and Arts Association, shared: "Before the trip, I only imagined Dak Nong as a land of vast coffee and pepper. But when I arrived here, the wild landscape and volcanic cave system completely surprised me." During the exploration of the volcanic cave, the rocks that seemed to stretch for millions of years gave him the feeling of being connected to Mother Earth. All of these have become an inexhaustible source of inspiration for artistic creation.
From Cao Bang, writer Pham Thanh Thang, Vice President of the Cao Bang Literature and Arts Association, Editor-in-Chief of Non Nuoc Cao Bang Magazine, brought his love for highland culture to Dak Nong. He noticed special similarities between the cultures of the ethnic groups. He shared: "I hope that through my works, I can connect the two heritage regions of Cao Bang and Dak Nong, promoting their precious values more widely."
According to Mr. Dang Ba Canh, Chairman of the Dak Nong Provincial Literature and Arts Association, the Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark is a rich source of inspiration for literature and art. The creative camp is not only a useful playground, but also a driving force to promote the creativity of artists, helping them create quality works that truly and vividly reflect the heritage values of this land. These works contribute significantly to promoting the image of the Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark to the domestic and international community.
In addition to organizing creative camps, the Literature and Arts Associations of the provinces with UNESCO Global Geoparks have signed a cooperation program for the period 2024-2029. According to Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung, Chairman of the Literature and Arts Association of Cao Bang province, the signing program aims to promote propaganda and raise public awareness in heritage conservation. At the same time, it is hoped to widely promote the heritage values, tours, and sightseeing routes at the UNESCO Global Geopark system of Dak Nong, Non Nuoc Cao Bang, Dong Van Stone Plateau (Ha Giang) and Lang Son Global Geopark to international friends.
The Literature and Arts Associations of the four provinces will jointly publish two special pages each year in the magazines: Nam Nung, Non Nuoc Cao Bang, Van Nghe Ha Giang, and Van Nghe Xu Lang. In addition, activities such as organizing field trips, creative camps, art photo exhibitions, and literature and arts creation competitions will be implemented to introduce and deeply reflect the values of the heritage areas of the Geopark in the four provinces.
Bringing Dak Nong UNESCO Geopark into schools
Several schools in Dak Nong have implemented many interesting activities to promote and raise awareness among students about the value of Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark.
Dak Nong brings information about Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark to schools in many diverse forms. In particular, the display of artifacts, information, pictures, and graphics in the traditional room has helped students visit and learn about destinations in the Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark system. From there, students not only gain more knowledge but also understand more about the unique beauty of their own homeland.
Through artifacts and pictures, students learn about cave systems and volcanoes. At the same time, they learn about famous landscapes and landscapes spread across 5 districts and cities of Dak Nong province.
In addition to displaying artifacts, pictures, and information, schools also integrate knowledge about Dak Nong UNESCO Geopark into teaching History and Geography in local education lessons. Based on documents and images provided by specialized agencies and based on the specific teaching plan of the school, teachers develop appropriate lesson plans about the Geopark.
The knowledge learned becomes a source of inspiration for students to create meaningful products about the Geopark, presentations about attractive destinations in competitions, or paintings about the natural beauty of Dak Nong. Through that, students not only clearly demonstrate their understanding but also contribute to promoting the image of the Geopark to the community.
The curriculum opened up to the students a magical world of Dak Nong UNESCO Geopark. Through each lesson, the students not only understood more clearly the geological and geomorphological values of this land but also deeply recognized the importance of biodiversity conservation and cultural heritage.
According to the Management Board of the UNESCO Dak Nong Global Geopark, realizing the importance of education about Geoparks, the unit has coordinated with schools to provide documents and organize training courses to help students understand more about Geoparks. Thanks to that, the young generation of Dak Nong is not only proud of their homeland but also becomes active protectors of cultural and natural heritage.
Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark has advantages in nature and indigenous community culture to effectively develop Geopark tourism, creating sustainable livelihoods for the people. To promote these advantages, Dak Nong needs to promote propaganda and advertising.
