On December 28, according to information from the Center for Investment Promotion, Enterprise Support and Management of Dak Nong Geopark, a group of experts including Dr. La The Phuc, Deputy Director of the Institute of Applied Geology and Minerals Research; volcanic cave expert Luong Thi Tuat discovered a completely new lava cave in Krong No district (Dak Nong) in the Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark area, after comparing with records of previously known caves.
This discovery is an important highlight, following the success of the second UNESCO Dak Nong Global Geopark Recognition Ceremony, which took place on the evening of December 26, 2024 in Dak Nong province.
The new cave is located in the Northeast, about 1,800m from Nam B'lang crater, Buon Choah commune and Nam Da commune, Krong No district. The cave has many unique formation features such as: a sinkhole similar to Cave C7, the structure of the cave and the length of Cave C9, the landscape facing the cave mouth has similarities to Cave C8. Preliminarily, the structure of the cave is assessed as quite stable and solid, opening up great potential for local tourism development.
This discovery affirms the continuous research efforts of scientists. This creates motivation for Dak Nong province to continue promoting its tourism potential, attracting domestic and international investors and tourists.
This is a clear demonstration of Dak Nong's position on the world geological heritage map, contributing to promoting sustainable socio-economic development associated with the brand "Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark - Land of Melodies".
