Speaking at the conference, Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee, President of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association Nguyen Thi Thanh said that 2023 is the year when all levels of the Association have coordinated to organize and implement tasks and completed a huge amount of work, meeting the requirements of political tasks, actively contributing to consolidating and strengthening the solidarity, friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia. The conference is an opportunity for delegates to analyze and evaluate strengths and weaknesses, draw lessons, and from there, propose measures to overcome difficulties and improve the quality and effectiveness of the Association's operations in 2024.

At the conference, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee Pham Quang Ngoc emphasized that Vietnam and Cambodia are two close neighboring countries with a long-standing traditional relationship. Throughout history, the two nations have united, shared, overcome many ups and downs, and built a relationship of "good neighbors, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability". That traditional friendship is a priceless asset of the two countries and two peoples, and is a decisive factor in the victory in the cause of national construction and defense in each country.

Sharing general information about the socio-economic development results of Ninh Binh province in 2023 and the activities of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association of Ninh Binh province, Mr. Pham Quang Ngoc said that the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association of Ninh Binh province was established in 2012, formerly the Association of Former Officials and Experts of the province working in Cambodia. Over the years, with the attention of the province, the Association has made important contributions to building, organizing activities, expanding cooperation, exchanges and contributing to the success of the province's people's foreign affairs.

The 3rd Central Executive Committee Conference of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association, Session V, held in Ninh Binh province is a concern and facilitation of the Central Association, a valuable opportunity for Ninh Binh to exchange, learn experiences and introduce to international friends the development, as well as the potential and advantages of Ninh Binh land.

With the achievements of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association in 2023, Mr. Pham Quang Ngoc believes that the Conference will be successful, achieving many good results, continuing to contribute positively to strengthening and consolidating the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia, bringing the friendship between the two countries and two peoples to a new height.

2023 is the first year that the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association and the Cambodia - Vietnam Friendship Association implement the Memorandum of Understanding on Coordination of Activities for the period 2022 - 2027. This has created favorable conditions for the activities of the two Associations in general and the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association in particular.

Foreign affairs, event organization, delegation exchange cooperation, meetings, and friendship exchanges took place actively, with rich and practical content and had a wide social impact. Information, propaganda, and education work for members and all walks of life, especially the young generation, about the tradition of solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia had many positive changes. The Friendship Nurturing work continued to be implemented as planned. The number of Cambodian students studying in Vietnam sponsored by the Association in the 2023-2024 school year met and exceeded the set target.

Activities of “Repaying gratitude”, “Comradely love”, and volunteering have been widely carried out at all levels of the Association. The Associations at all levels have mobilized billions of VND to carry out activities to support and help the poor in remote and border areas, the Khmer people, etc., contributing to consolidating and enhancing the friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, ensuring social security, and reducing poverty in localities with many difficulties.

With its achievements, the Association was honored to receive the Emulation Flag 2023 from the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and a Certificate of Merit from the Central External Relations Commission.

Regarding the direction of activities in 2024, the Central Committee of the Association determined to continue to consolidate and develop the Association at all levels; promote the work of "Nurturing friendship", diversify sponsorship forms, and plan to sponsor 100 Cambodian students in the 2024-2025 school year; continue to promote forms of friendship, volunteer and community exchanges; strengthen the activities of the Vietnam - Cambodia Business Club to contribute to promoting economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries; propagate and educate members and people of each country to better understand the tradition of solidarity, friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia.

In her closing speech at the Conference, President of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association Nguyen Thi Thanh suggested that all levels of the Association continue to promote the work of building, consolidating and developing a comprehensively strong Association; expanding the Association's network and developing new members. All levels of the Association continue to promote information, propaganda and education for members and people of all walks of life, especially the young generation of the two countries, about the solidarity, friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia; implement the Friendship Incubation Program and promote and replicate models of community support activities...

On this occasion, the Central Committee of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association awarded the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Medal to 6 individuals and many Certificates of Merit to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in the work of building the Association in 2023.
