Italian media revealed that Juventus FC plans to terminate Paul Pogba's contract after the French star was banned for 4 years for testing positive for doping. This penalty is longer than the remaining contract that Juventus signed with the midfielder born in 1993 (which is valid for 4 years from the 2022/23 season).

Juventus have been planning to terminate Paul Pogba's contract since the player tested positive for doping in his first sample in August last year, after the match between Juventus and Udinese. In that match, the 2018 World Cup champion did not play.

Paul Pogba was temporarily suspended from competition in September 2023 to serve the investigation. The banned substance found in Pogba's sample was DHEA - a hormone that enhances athletes' endurance. Pogba will appeal the suspension decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Switzerland).

Pogba received a 4-year ban.

Pogba received a 4-year ban.

" I have received the decision of the National Anti-Doping Tribunal and believe that the decision is incorrect. I am sad, shocked and hurt because everything I have built in my playing career has been taken away ," Pogba shared.

" Without legal restrictions, the whole story will be clear. I have never knowingly used any supplements that violate anti-doping rules. As a professional athlete, I have never used banned substances to enhance my performance and have never deceived my colleagues or fans ."

According to Italian media, the four-year ban could be reduced if the player proves the sample was contaminated with a foreign substance, or was not intentional or actively assisted in the investigation.

Goalkeeper Andre Onana was previously found to be positive for doping, but it was proven to be an accident. The star (who was playing for Ajax at the time) justified that he only accidentally had a banned substance in his system after mistakenly taking his wife's prescription medication.

Paul Pogba signed a record £86m deal with Man Utd in 2016. He made 225 appearances and helped the English team win the 2016/17 Europa League.

In 2022, Pogba returned to Juventus as a free agent. However, this player did not contribute much due to constant injuries. He only played 8 matches for the Italian team.
