Boldly developing her family's economy, Ms. Tran Thi Khuyen, Bac Giang hamlet, Nghia Hong commune (Nghia Hung) has risen to become rich on her homeland's land.

Ms. Tran Thi Khuyen, Bac Giang hamlet, Nghia Hong commune (Nghia Hung) comes from a farming family. In the early days of building a family, the couple did all kinds of jobs to make a living but were still poor. To improve the economy, Ms. Khuyen's husband also took advantage of the free time to work far away. With the determination to get rich on their homeland, in 2018, Ms. Khuyen's family rented land for a long time, pooled all their capital, borrowed more from relatives and friends to open a pig and poultry farm. On an area of 3 hectares, Ms. Khuyen used 3,000 square meters to build pig barns, divided into areas: breeding pigs, breeding sows, weaned piglets and meat pigs; built barns for chickens and ducks, planted fruit trees such as jackfruit, grapefruit, bananas, etc. Dividing the livestock farming areas helps her ensure that the pigs and chickens develop evenly and is convenient for feeding and cleaning. In the early days of raising livestock, Ms. Khuyen's family encountered many difficulties. There were years when pigs and poultry died of unknown causes. Not discouraged, Ms. Khuyen went to farms inside and outside the district to learn more about livestock farming and disease prevention. In addition, she also went online, read books and newspapers, and regularly participated in training courses on transferring science and technology in farming and livestock farming organized by the Commune Women's Union in coordination with other sectors and units. During the process of developing the farm, she thoroughly applied advanced livestock farming and disease prevention methods such as: using biogas, building biogas tanks, regularly cleaning barns, following the regular vaccination schedule for livestock and poultry 4 times/month, and choosing to buy animal feed from reputable production enterprises. Using scientific livestock farming methods, Ms. Khuyen's farm has high economic efficiency. Up to now, her farm has over 100 breeding pigs, 120 breeding pigs, 1,000 meat pigs, and over 200 chickens and ducks of all kinds. Her family's total annual income from livestock farming reaches 11 billion VND, after deducting expenses, the profit is 1.5 billion VND, creating regular jobs for 5-10 workers.

Not only is she good at business, Ms. Khuyen also actively participates in the activities of the Women's Union as well as volunteer and humanitarian work. Every year, her family spends 20-25 million VND to support local charity activities. In addition, she is always willing to share her economic development experience with her sisters. Ms. Khuyen's farm is therefore also a trusted "address" for many people to come and learn and visit the model. Having had difficult times starting a business, she understands very well the difficulties that many rural women are facing when they want to develop the economy and get rich. Ms. Khuyen hopes that the State and social organizations will create conditions and mechanisms for women to boldly start a business and have the conditions to stay with their homeland for a long time. What women need most when starting a business, according to her, is to be supported with loans, participate in training courses to transfer science and technology in cultivation and animal husbandry; The State has policies to encourage and support new economic models for women and especially subsidize agricultural products so that farmers in general can feel secure in production.
