Parents called out insults before beating teacher

On June 1, the Department of Education and Training of Dak Nong province said it had just sent a document to the Provincial People's Committee regarding the incident of a parent coming to the house to beat a teacher because their child had average conduct.

According to the Department of Education and Training of Dak Nong province, teacher VTKQ is a literature teacher at Le Duan High School. The person who assaulted teacher Q is Mr. LMD, a teacher at Hoang Van Thu Secondary School (both located in Quang Son commune, Dak Glong district), under the management of the Department of Education and Training of Dak Glong district.

Immediately after the incident, the Department of Education and Training directed the Board of Directors of Le Duan High School to promptly encourage and help Ms. VTKQ mentally and professionally.

On May 26, Le Duan High School and the Department of Education and Training of Dak Glong District reported on the above incident.

According to the report, on the evening of May 25, Mr. LMD (LMQ's father, a 12th grade student at Le Duan High School) broke into VTKQ's house in Bon N'ting (Quang Son commune), cursed, insulted and assaulted her. After being stopped by neighbors and relatives, Mr. D. left.

According to Ms. VTKQ, the reason may be that in the literature class on April 10, student LMQ entered the class 15 minutes late. Ms. VTKQ, who was directly teaching the class, reminded LMQ about being late, but this student still argued, had an uncooperative attitude, and was not up to standard.

When Ms. VTKQ asked the students to go to the school's Youth Union office so that the homeroom teacher and the Youth Union could handle it, LMQ resisted, standing in front of the classroom door with words and actions (dancing) challenging the teacher. After the lesson, Ms. VTKQ commented on student LMQ's actions in the class's attendance book.

Regarding LMQ's behavior, the school's Youth Union invited parents to the school on April 12 to discuss the student's violation.

On April 15, the homeroom teacher held a meeting to consider disciplining students in class in the form of "lowering one level of conduct" for the school year. On May 20, the school held a meeting to consider the conduct of grade 12 students for the 2022-2023 school year, and ranked LMQ student's conduct as average (with 11/14 votes).

On the same day, May 20, LMQ's parents submitted a petition regarding their child's conduct classification. On May 22, the school held a meeting to review LMQ's conduct for the 2022-2023 school year and maintained the average conduct classification (with 16/19 votes).

Dissatisfied with his child's average conduct rating, Mr. D. repeatedly called Ms. VTKQ with insulting words and then went to her house to assault her on the evening of May 25.

The Department of Education and Training of Dak Nong province said that the unit is still waiting for the report of the People's Committee of Dak Glong district, then will continue to report to the Provincial People's Committee.

Previously, Thanh Nien Newspaper reported on the incident of a parent coming to the teacher's house to beat her on the evening of May 25 because her child had average conduct. Ms. VTKQ reported the incident to the authorities.

On May 26, the People's Committee of Dak Nong province issued a document requesting the provincial police to investigate and strictly handle the case, and report to the People's Committee.
