(Fatherland) - Hang Ma Street (Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi) is beautifully lit up, filled with red, attracting thousands of tourists to check in early for the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Hang Ma Street these days is sparkling, brilliant with lights and the colors of thousands of traditional Mid-Autumn toys covering the street.
According to some traders, storm number 3 has had a relatively serious impact on this year's Mid-Autumn Festival.
"Storm No. 3 passed by, causing trees to fall and the more than 300 million VND worth of decorations to fly away from my house. Right after the storm passed, my staff and I had to fix it up to attract customers. However, the shopping power as well as the number of tourists coming to Hang Ma street during this time decreased sharply." - A merchant on Hang Ma street said.
Rich and colorful items attract customers.
"Purchasing power has decreased sharply compared to previous years, but we are not worried because we know that purchasing power has decreased because businesses are not organizing the Mid-Autumn Festival but are using money to support flood relief caused by the recent storm No. 3. As for my family's products, we will store them away and use them again when the time comes," said Ms. Loan, a merchant on Hang Ma Street.
Traditional Mid-Autumn toys and domestically handmade toys such as masks, lanterns, etc. are sold much more than modern toys, accounting for 60-70% of the stalls.
Children love to be taken to the "Mid-Autumn Festival" street by their families on weekends.
The shops on both sides of the street are packed with handicrafts, giving locals and tourists the opportunity to learn and feel more deeply about Hanoi culture.
Besides traditional lanterns, Hang Ma Street also has many creative lanterns with a modern feel. Cartoon characters, funny animals... are vividly recreated on the lanterns.
