On January 8, the Investigation Police Agency of Kien Giang Province coordinated with the Provincial People's Procuracy to issue a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused, and issue an order to temporarily detain Ha Viet Hung (42 years old), Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Cua Can Commune, Phu Quoc City, Kien Giang, to investigate the act of irresponsibility causing serious consequences.

For the same act, the Investigation Police Agency of Kien Giang Province Police prosecuted and temporarily detained Vo Duy Phong (33 years old), a construction land officer of Cua Can commune.

According to the initial investigation results, Phong and Hung were directly responsible for checking and confirming the origin of the land. Both of them approved the origin and time of use of 2 plots of land for Mr. LQN and 1 plot of land for Mr. DHT, but they did not do so strictly, did not check the information on the origin and time of use of the land provided by the participants in the approval, and collected opinions from the wrong land users, leading to incorrect confirmation of the actual origin of the land and time of use of the land.

Specifically, the land was managed by the state and approved for granting to subjects who were not eligible for land use right certificates (the property managed by the state was converted into the property of individuals who were not eligible for land use right certificates) with an area of nearly 45,300 ^m2 . Thereby, causing damage to the state of over 31 billion VND.

Searching the workplace and residence of Hung and Phong, the investigation agency seized many important documents related to the criminal acts of the two suspects.

The case of the Vice Chairman of Cua Can Commune (Phu Quoc City) and the cadastral officer of this commune being irresponsible causing serious consequences is being further investigated and handled by the Investigation Police Agency of Kien Giang Province Police according to the provisions of law.
