Receiving the suicide mission, Mai Quoc Ca Platoon quickly marched and safely passed through many enemy ambushes. At 4:00 a.m. on April 10, when approaching Quang Tri Bridge to prepare for the mission, the entire platoon was ambushed by the enemy with a large number of elite troops supported by heavy weapons surrounded from many sides.

With the brave spirit of "1 win 100", the first person to fall down, the next person to charge forward, Mai Quoc Ca Platoon heroically repelled the enemy's attacks. When they ran out of ammunition, they used daggers, gun butts, bricks and stones... to fight, eliminating 125 enemies and many military vehicles. However, due to the overwhelming balance of power, 19 comrades heroically fell.
